Nearly 470,000 vehicles worldwide are being recalled by Fiat Chrysler to fix problems related to headrests that can malfunction in a rear collision.Almost 25,000 older model vehicles in Canada are included in the notice.
After consumer complaints were made to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company said it found a component of certain vehicles may degrade over time. As a result, the headrests may be stopped from moving forward in a rear crash and protect occupants in the front row from whiplash injuries.
Subject to the recall are some 2012 Jeep Liberty SUVs and 2012-13 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger midsize cars. Fiat Chrysler said they will notify affected customers in November.
The company is unaware of any injuries due to the problem.

I’m not surprised. From what I’ve seen in multiple vehicle accidents over the years, Chrysler products consistently show problems with non deploying airbags, seatbacks breaking off or seats breaking free of the floor altogether, door locks failing, seatbelt anchors tearing free of the body etc. When I’ve had to extricate people with the tools, Chryslers come apart much easier than other makers.
I would never buy ANY Chrysler products because of the safety issues I’ve seen.
