He's dying in any kind of public debate platform. My vote goes to Jason Kenney. Notley won't make a fool of him at the podium in a year and a half.

Funny, I get SPAM from them constantly. I missed the debate but got an e-mail from Brian's crew bragging about what a raging success the debate was for him. Not so?

Getting a membership and voting for whom you'd like as ucp leader likely more important than the actually provincial election in 2 years, pretty certain ndp don't stand a chance. For me I struggle at this point whether I want Kenney who although seems better qualified does have a couple odd left leaning tendencies re immigration for one and appears to be more establishment than we might want to vote back in vs Jean who is definitely not establishment but I wonder if he has the depth required to bring alberta back.

We got emails from everyone but Kenney saying their guy won the debate? They all feel they won I guess? In all fairness to Brian he has publicly stated in the last couple days that he is not a great speaker. I just keep flashing back to the last election debates and seeing him fail miserably at the podium with Prentice and Notley excelling getting their messages out. Doesn't anyone else feel awkward listening to him speak on TV like his answers are kinda preplanned and he just restates them over and over?

A friend of mine said he feels Jean will say whatever you want to hear right now to get your vote. He has been to a couple town halls of his and feels he will flip flop on things to get power? I can't say as I have as I have only seen what he wants us to see on TV. I just feel Kenney is more polished and will stand a better chance against Trudeau over equalization and Carbon Tax issues? I think it doesn't matter which guy gets in because they are all polling pretty close against the NDP and have a huge margin to the good right now. I find it interesting that Notley's gang of goofs seem to be targeting Kenney more in the media so maybe they feel that he will be the eventual winner? Time will tell.

It is also my understanding that Kenny is definitely the most qualified candidate, particularly with respect to dealing with Ottawa. If it weren't for the land use issues we're facing, I'd be putting a lot more thought into who my vote goes to. It seems to me that Jean is really the only one willing to take a stance on land use - at least he is the only one who says he will. Whether or not he actually does will remain to be seen if he gets in. I feel a bit guilty about letting land use issues decide my vote, but I think that's the way I'm gonna go.

I'm going to ask him that question when he goes LIVE on Facebook next time. I don't know his stand on land issues either and I think we need to see where his thoughts are on this?

I believe a couple of members from here have asked Kenny about it on live forums before and he kinda darted around giving an answer. It's a bit of a can of worms that I'm sure he doesn't want to open up in a public forum. I think even Jean is trying to avoid land use discussions during this popularity contest.

Well the vote for the next alberta premier is near... Kenny or Jean?

I still haven't decided, I was leaning Kenny but after watching his interview this morning on the news and now his declaration that the new Quebec "uncovered face" law is unnecessary makes me think.

Ditto. Brian Jean for me still. This politically correct BS has got to slow down sometime.

Right or not, I'm primarily voting with land use issues in mind. For that reason, Brian Jean is the one for me. I think he's a bit optimistic about what he'll be able to accomplish in that respect, but he has vowed to do everything in his power to keep public land public. It is also a personal sore spot for him, so I'm confident he'll actually move on it.

At this moment, my "swaying" is leaning towards Kenney. I have been closely watching and listening to these guys over the last few weeks and I think Kenney is the one who will effectively stand up to the Feds and Trudope. I like Brian Jean but I have been discouraged of his public speaking abilities vs Jason Kenney. We need a strong voice who will get Alberta back on track.....while Jean has the right beliefs, I am not sure if he has the "right stuff" at this time to get the job done.

Brian Jean was useless as our federal MP, pretty much a ghost and i dont think he will be any better for our province. I believe he is a flip flopper and is saying anything he can to win.

Plain and simple, he doesn't have the teeth to win any of these battles he says hes gonna fight.

The nice thing about this election is we can't lose. All the candidates are better than the alternative we have now. I watched a couple of the debates and they are all pretty much on the same page. I think people need to vote for who they think will be the best person to tackle Notley and Trudeau head to head. All 3 candidates are polling to beat Notley handily in 2019. Who is the best man for the job?
