Public money funds catholic schools so they have to meet the provincial curriculum. If Kenny is saying the province should mind its own business, he is wrong. He looks like a guy who just can't leave his bible in the car and that will lose the election IMO.

The NDP government and in particular the education ministry is pushing a pro-homosexual sex education curriculum that a lot of people regardless of religious affiliation find offensive. The Catholics are merely expressing their objections based on their religious beliefs. Kenney was just supporting their objections. Just because a group of homosexual politicians find it acceptable to promote and encourage that lifestyle doesn’t mean the rest of us have to. If you enjoy sex with another man or inserting foreign objects up your backside for recreational purposes that’s your business. Just don’t teach it in our schools.

If they want to win the election, they will have to learn to shut their mouths. This kind of talk makes as much sense as musing that abortion should be outlawed because God says it is wrong. You don't have to like gay people if you don't want to but that battle is lost long ago. Quit beating a dead horse and bury it because it just smells worse with the passage of time.

I would like to see sensible people focused on what is important which is financial responsibility, health, education and infrastructure. The rest of this is just bait being dangled out and like a spring jackfish, Kenny had to take a nibble. Not the first time he has done that and not likely the last.

Funny hey in our current political environment we allow all the bs that comes along with Islam, covered faces, packing a dagger, oppression of women, murder of gays etc, but when a Christian / catholic says that they don't agree with gay curriculum it's a human rights violation. Talk about hypocrisy.

And that answer has to be neutral and leaning toward supportive. If the message deviates from that, you simply hand the opposition a club which they will use to publically beat you. An election is won by the party who appeals to the MOST people and right now (and probably well into the future) the majority of people are sensitive to discrimination in general.

but, come election time, all those questions about LGBT and education etc will be asked, and they better have a good answer prepared...

Nothing hypocritical about everyone complying with the same laws. I have not seen what the C school board presented and personally don't care. I think a very basic explanation of sexual behavior focusing on avoidance of STDs and pregnancy is adequate. But here is the deal. The clip from Global presents Kenny's statement and a very good reply from Notley. Neither mentions what everyone seems to think are the issues. Of the two responses, Notley looks like a leader. Kenny like a complainer. Watch the clip.

Thats what happens when you have a majority government. She gets to be the leader and he gets to whine about it. In 2019 it will be the other way around ..........thats if she is even the official opposition at that time.

Yeah partly true but she had such a smooth and polished response that it will have very wide appeal to the general public. I really would like the conservatives to win but they have to be better than this. Gawd. Like watching the Oilers once the regular season started :(

Here is the actual document, thinking Nutley decided to exercise here higher moral social license while up on her soap box. I'm with Kenny on this one I think the twit was off the mark, maybe she never really even read the document, before she spouted off.

Well you can agree with Kenny if you like, HOWEVER, she won this skirmish. You are probably also correct in that she probably did not read it. Speaking of which, where did you get the document? Would like to see a complete copy and one that doesn't have a line blocked out by the blue line.

Is that what this is all about? She won? She won an argument where she was wrong? Wow you really are not doing a good job of convincing anyone you hope the Conservatives win in my opinion. I just think you don't like Jason Kenney?

I did not think I was pursuing any "this" and merely expressing opinions which is what this thread, and many others, are all about. If my posting on this is concerning to some that is unfortunate but hopefully inspires a bit of thought. So to summarize:

1. I do want the conservatives to win.
2. In order to win, they will need to appeal to the broadest audience which means they need to appeal in the cities as well as rural.
3. They will struggle in the cities if they are, or in the case I referred to above, give someone an opportunity to make it appear that they support an agenda that is against equal rights. I know this might rub many the wrong way as they have differing opinions as to what should be considered acceptable and normal. If the goal is for the conservatives to return to power and stay there, every candidate, the leader in particular, needs to avoid starting a discussion on the classic loser issues such as equal rights for homosexuals. It appears Kenny opened up the issue by suggesting the province should mind its own business regarding the Catholic struggle with sex education. Strategically, this is dangerous ground and it has certainly not done him, or by association, the conservatives any favors. That is my point.
4. No I can't say much positive for Mr. Kenny as a politician with his experience who makes mistakes like this is much more unlikely to lead a party to victory. I do like Brian Jean but I am leaning toward Schweitzer as he will hold the widest appeal IMO.
5. See #1. The NDP has actually turned out much better in some areas than I could have imagined, neutral in others while obviously they seem to suck at financial responsibility. Do not underestimate their ability to win a second term. Polls have been completely wrong before and will be again.

52 out on this subject. The voting is underway. Choose a candidate that you honestly believe will win.

I particularly like 52's point #5. ...do not underestimate the NDP's ability to win a second term. The worst thing we could possibly do is blindly trust that they'd never win the next election.

100% agree. My nephew is attending University right now and all of a sudden he has been posting FB memes/articles etc favouring the NDP mentality as it seems they are more in line that generations thinking process.

My niece did too and now my BIL is questioning my riding off road. Starting to piss me off.

Sounds like an opportunity to me. Ask her what her concerns are and explain why she is mistaken.

...then gently hold her head under water until she submits and agrees to bring all her like minded friends over for a chat.
