I think its a leap of faith Cat. If you want a say in the direction of the party vote Kenney. If you want what Jean wants then vote Jean?

Leap of faith?? You are assuming that Jason Kenney will only take the party in the direction that the party wants go but we all know that a leader has great power and can get a lot of things done and sway members support as the leader. I think there will be a say by membership voting either way and I'm not decided on either.

I do like Jason Kenney but I have trouble giving someone a blank cheque just because they are a nice guy and a good speaker. I would prefer he made a statement of his beliefs and what he hopes to get done as our next Premier. A party leader tends to "lead" his group/party with his/her views or beliefs. Those views somewhat steer the party down the path they take. Not saying the party caucus doesn't vote along the way, but the road a party takes is usually the direction that the leader steers it.
For instance, when Jim Prentice ran for leader of the PC party, he had some strong ideas of what he had in mind. He was elected on those views.

Brian Jean has brought forward his goals as party leader and whether or not you agree with those views at least you know what his thoughts are and you can make an educated vote. Jason Kenney....I have no idea what direction he will take if he is elected....because even though he says he will take the party in the direction they want...he still has to have some core beliefs of which direction he wants....and as the leader he will have the power to fulfill those beliefs. I don't want to hear of "his" vision after the vote.

I will vote this fall...I am undecided at this time on who I will support but I have trouble voting for a guy who is keeping his thoughts to himself.

Fair enough. I like the idea that I can help decide the parties mandate instead of being told what it will be. The whole party is a grassroots movement. Kenney is the architect that made it happen and he has been true to form so far. Instead of doing a back room deal like Prentice and Danielle Smith tried he was open and upfront and the process was transparent and well communicated through the whole process. Either way who gets in it will be a huge upgrade over what we have right now.

So here's a little different thought on this, who has the best chance of taking support from the Alberta Party and bringing it to the UCP? People are starting to look more closely at the Alberta Party now with the merger, but how many would vote for them is hard to say at this point.

I too like the "Ralph Klien" feel of Brian Jean, Kenny in some aspects is a little too "polished"...
However I must admit Jason's experience may bode well for Brian as deputy premier....

Fildebrandt down and out as of today. Caught in more controversy again he steps down from the UCP caucus. There may be other members announced in the coming days now it is said. Sad to see. Was hoping for better conduct from the Wildrose.

sad to see all this... the Airbnb thing, he cleared with the treasury/accounting dept, and apparently he's not the only one doing this.... the double charge of $197, well, accounting errors can and do happen. Many of the rookie NDP are now said to be in question and there is now an all out audit happening. Derek's biggest problem is the hit and run, and I really hope he's innocent like he says.... he's been smeared enough, and now it's just a witchhunt to keep the targets away from the crap the NDP are dishing on Alberta.... Now don't get me wrong, I neither support or disagree with Derek, but he seems like an intelligent fella, that I think would do Alberta some good...........

Global political analyst was on the news this morning and stated the leaks on Fildebrandt have been coming from the Wildrose party. Maybe Brian Jean? Payback? Sounds like a few may go down with the ship with Derek? It seems every time the Wildrose gets into a position to win an election they self destruct. I'm staying in Kenneys camp. Staying under the radar so we can get Notley out of office number 1. Worry about the trash at a later date.

that's why it was good for him to resign and back away because this was taking away from the leadership race.

there is no love lost between Jean and Filldapockets and if Jean was stupid enough to start this, it will backfire on him real quick
