After years of not having to, I recently started a job were steel toes are mandatory.
With this, so is walking/standing on concrete for 8 to 10 hours a day.

The boots I used to wear, and loved, just don't seem to cut it in this environment. I've tried Dr.Schools, but that just seems to transfer the ache fromfeet to my knees.

So, what's your guys brand of choice??

Thanks in advance.

I love my redwings.. they don't love me, they are generally at least a size narrower than advertised. I have a wide foot which narrows my options. Timberland boondocker seems to be the choice where I work. It all comes down to what fits you, if it doesn't fit perfect in the showroom carry on looking. I don't care what work boots cost I will pay anything as long as the hold up there end. Verify insulation, don't get a winter weight and expect to wear in summer etc.

I always go back to Marks. Tried a few types and brands from other places but usually Marks last me the year and are comfortable. I have been having a lot of trouble with sore feet this last six months though and nothing is helping other than wearing running shoes, which of course is a no no.

What about the set up they have at Costco. You put you foot in and it measures the pressure points and gives you the number to use for insoles.

tried it them, did not work for me. My orthotics cost 350 from Stony Plain redwing guy who is now gone due to our economy... I don't have to wear them all the time just when my feet get sore. About once per month gets muscles stretched back to where they need to be. 2 years ago i thought i was going to need a cane... do it.. Im 42

I got these insoles a while back, have lasted me 3 sets of boots, and I'm on my feet from 8-14 hrs a day depending, but you bake them in the oven for like 5 minutes then stand on them on a hard floor. They are the cats meow. Like halfway to an orthotic, but not weird feeling. I think they were about $30-40. Can't remember the brand but they are bright orange on top.

I tired that too. Feet are better, but my knees seem a little more worse for wear then they did prior to the insoles.
I sure wished I could wear my Irish Setters vaprtrek's to work. Hands down the most comfortable boots I've owned, aside from my elk trackers.

I'm a big fan of Terra boots. Very lite and easy to put on etc. Usually last me 2 or 3 years..

Working in a steel mill is 12 hour shifts on concrete standing or walking most of the time. Very limited with boot selection as we need metatarsal guards but red wings have always worked well for me and the newer KingToe they have is great for wider feet. I use the Costco insoles but under some good anti vibration insoles and that combo has worked really well for me.

I've worn Red Wings for 30 years. Lots of Red Wings are now made outside the USA, buy the ones still made in USA. Change out the insoles to a heavier pair for more cushioning. I quit buying from the Red Wing store many years ago. I get mine from Western Boot in Sherwood Park. He knows his boots!!

Red Wings for me as well, the ones made in the USA as UTurn stated, I don't even bother to look elsewhere since making the switch. I paid a bit extra for the Gortex ones but worth every penny.
Warranty varies depending on where you purchase. 6 months at Marks, 1 year replacement/lifetime repair from Redhart.
Have a few friends that work on asphalt crews, they get the soles replaced free every winter as they get burned off every summer.

I go to Diablo boots and buy Canada West welding boots (they make regular work boots also). Bye far the best work boots I have ever worn. I have had lots of Dakota junk boots and now refuse to buy them. Terra are decent but they don't make a nice welding boot so I stay away. Was going to buy the red wings but been hearing about the ones that are made outside the USA and didn't want to chance them.

I've been wearing Canada West lineman boots for years, and love them. But for concrete all day, they don't seem as comfy as when I was in the field. I also like there ironworker boots, and think I might give those a try.
