WOW
Everyone always seems in such a hurry to get to where they are going. Willing to take stupid chances.

Thanks for sharing.

Lucky no major injuries.

The scary thing is no one was breaking the law (unless speeding) so this could happen to anyone. It was just a case of not paying attention. If you were in the car turning left would you think to look back to see if a car was passing?? If you were in the passing car would you for sure see that there was a car in front of the semi??

Seen that one happen a few times, I always pull out into the passing lane a bit when turning left so everyone behind can see what is happening.

Exactly what I was thinking. My sisters were almost killed in pretty much the same scenario except there was no semi. Basically pulled out to pass a grain truck on a wide open section of dotted line, he turned left right in front of them. They were pulling a horse trailer and hit him broadside. Very very lucky.

I drive truck as well and things I've done in that same senerio is when possible move to the side of the road opening up a visual line of whats in front of me. This driver did not have that option. We don't know what he did but I would have flipped the four ways on to show others caution. The driver of the blue car is at fault. Passing a vehicle when it was not safe to do so, and overtaking another vehicle at a rate of speed way faster then the vehicle he is over taking. There is also nothing to say that driver of the blue car was not paying attention and swerved to miss running into the semi.

The day I got my drivers license, I was driving home from the test. Turning left and a guy did that to me, but it was a semi! He didn't hit hard but just enough to scuff the bumper of the mini van. Alway look now!

Ouch. I love running a dash cam now. So many idiots on my commute now. We almost need a dash cam post for stuff people catch.

It's getting so bad it's not even funny. I don't think there is a day that I drive the semi in the city that I don't run into at least one total fawking idiot.

Just a bad situation in that both cars were not paying attention. With no one in sight in the oncoming lane, if i'm turning left like that and someone is behind me near the turn I pull directly into the incoming lane so they don't have to slow down as much, and it prevents someone from trying to pass.

Bikes have to watch it too. I was on my KTM turning left on Hwy 37 couple years ago. I could see a car coming up fast and not slowing down. I was waiting and seeing which direction I should go and he finally saw me cranked it left then over corrected and rolled a bunch of times in the ditch. Have empty beer cans scattered all over the ditch too. A west can driver saw everything. The car had passed him in the turning lane going about 140.

Paying attention to whats going on around you is how to avoid F ups like this.
The guy in the blue car knew the semi was slowing down,if he bothered to be alert
and pay attention. "why is that semi slowing down? Answer-"there must be something
going on infront of him......What if there was a construction crew stopping traffic and
that was the reason the semi was slowing down? That blue car could have killed them.

Certainly lots of drivers that seem clueless or just think that they are somehow made of Teflon, and I don't mention this as a viable excuse for this guy, but isn't the line usually double solid at all crossroads or access roads like that ?

In most cases yes there should be a double solid line. In this case there is a doted line.

He's at 9300 views already. 1200 views just this morning. He's got a "real hit" on his hands. He's been approached by two publishers to buy it.

What is everyone using for dash cams? cheap reliable & easy to use??
this is what my brother has been using. He also cameras recording behind him down the sides. Saved him twice already. Somebody cut to the inside of him and tried blaming him for illegal turn. Camera proved he was in the right. And another incident he had another trucker pull his pin while waiting to unload. Pulled ahead and his trailer dropped off. Was able to check his camera and seen which driver it was. That ended poorly for the other driver.

What they offer to pay?
So he got $100 to sign. 60% of all profits. They have contracts with CNN and MTV. If he gets on there shows it's extra $1000. 200000 views will be another $2000.

No. at important intersections, yes but they do not put solid line at every mile marker on most highways....thank god for that or we'd never get to pass....
