I would have signed up for Robs class the last weekend but I don't have any of my long range stuff anymore. Like he said maybe next year. I may have my creedmore by then.

Rob has top notch rifles for all customers that take his multi levelled courses. Chances are those guns are far more expensive than anything we will ever have the opportunity to own. Lol.

Did you take the course he offered in Hanna? I haven't shot long distance in 5-6 years since I sold my done up .308 and .338 lapua so I thought at this point it would be a waste. Planning to get back into it in the next year.

I'm curious who's ammunition he was using, I recall reading that Rob furlong was using the US ammo when he made his kill, as the Canadian ammo didn't have the same punch to it

Wikipedia says he was using Hornady A-Max .50 (50BMG) Woody.

No broused his website and called them to talk about their program. Pretty pricey if you follow all the levels but you get taught by a legend.

Exactly. But you have to go in knowing how to shoot long range otherwise you wouldn't get as much out of it.

Kudos to the JTF guys for continuing to make us proud and prove to our allies that no one can whack a raghead like a Canadian soldier can!!
Having said that, I'd be really interested to hear more details about the shot. As anyone that has shot long range knows, repeatability and consistency is what's the most difficult.
Dropping a bad guy at 3.5km is impressive. Doing it repeatedly is REALLY impressive.

Someone that worked with the JTF over there told me they actually did reloading of their own to use the Hornady A-Max during the Rob Furlong days (Americans). NATO .50 700 gr FMJ's sucked and Canadians had no access to factory ammo. So the story goes, and makes sense to me if these snipers want to pull these extrodinary distance shots off. Each rifle is different so each sniper is taught to reload. Hats off to Hornady too. We went out yesterday and clocked out 3.4 km with a couple of trucks. DO IT!! Damn long ways.

I read an article on this last night. They talked to an Army Ranger sniper for his thoughts on the shot. He said that ammo is very hot and there is a lot of tech just in the shape of the bullet to keep it above the speed of sound longer. After a bullet slows to below that speed it starts to become more unstable and starts to lose trajectory. Chances are that ISIS dude never even heard it coming until it hit him. Don't quote me as going from my poor memory but I believe that ammo has about 750 grains which is a lot.

Study balistic co and yes it was a 750 gr Bullet,was reading last night too. Hard to believe as there where no pictures lol. Friend on facecrack said it is record that will never be broken. Never say never it was 35 year before someone beat Carlos Hathcocks record from 1967. 2012-2017 its been broke how many times? I can remember three. We just keep raising the bar at shooting bad guys, too awesome.

The optics are only getting better as with rifles. 20 years from now a guy will be able snipe another guy twice that far with a laser!
