Many of the small conveniences stores don't take credit card already to avoid fees, so instead I avoid them and go to places that's except credit cards. Same will happen here, go with big name brand stores as they negotiate lower rates with companies.

Would you rather get your CC points than support local small businesses?

Costco hasn't taken visa in prob at least 10 years. Used to be amex, now MasterCard for a couple years. I have had membership about 10 years and never accepted visa in that time.

Costco uses Visa in the USA. They do not accept Canadian Master Card in the USA. Likely do not accept American Visa in Canada.

Not sure where you got local from that? There's nothing local about convenience stores in every downtown Calgary building...

With my credit card I get the following advantages: 2% cash back, double warranty coverage on purchased items, much better thef protection, tons of insurance protection options, advantages booking travel (hotels, cars, concierge), price protection, etc... So yes I support businesses that take credit card.

Credit card companies make millions on people who carry a balance.

The fee to have a wireless machine to run your business is ridiculous.

Then the company that owns the machine each charge different rates per type of card.

The money made off interest of credit cards and banks they should have no fee's and lower interest rates to actually help people.

just my opinion.

Well then why don't businesses offer cash incentive if the fees are too much? Like 8-10 % off for cash

I know some businesses that want 2-3% more on invoices for paying with a credit card.

I totally agree with this. Because of the laws prohibiting businesses from specifically passing on this cost to credit card users, it gets factored into their entire inventory. Essentially becomes an additional tax on everything. Now it becomes more "a la carte". Ill just adapt by using my debit and parking the credit card.
