because they dont want to pay a 1-3% fee they should offer 8 to 10% off? Im not an economics major, but something seems off there?

i would think there is a bit of book keeping and waiting to receive money. called cash incentive, and right now you are paying this unknowingly with cash, so really who is ripping who off.

Actually credit card funds are received very quickly. Offer it for smaller jobs, money is in account within 24 hours. But for anything sizable the fees aren't worth it, and the fees are insane if the customer uses a points card, like 5%.

Costco hasn't taken visa in prob at least 10 years. Used to be amex, now MasterCard for a couple years. I have had membership about 10 years and never accepted visa in that time.
Best option is to buy from Costco.ca - you can still use your cc.
As a business owner if I didn't accept cc we would be dead in the water as very few people carry enough cash to buy even a double double!
Funds are generally posted to our account within 24 hours. Biggest issue is the premium cards - all the incentives have to be funded by the business and anyone who carries a balance!
On the upside as a business I use cc as PMT for lots of purchases and do not carry a balance.

What's really funny is people are using debit card for 20$ and paying a 1.50$ fee...
Now that is a rip off...

Credit cards are great ..
That's why the banks want everyone on debit cards ...

A lot of my large suppliers are no longer accepting credit card payments citing high fees as the issue. Others have gone to a flat processing fee. One just announced a $24 fee to process a payment via CC. I think the CC companies are slowly slitting their own throat.

...and with high bank fees, low interest on savings, the Bank of Cash Under Mattress is looking like the only viable option for the future.

If you pay your credit card off every 3 weeks they can't collect a dime from you, but they still soak the merchant

You get your points or travel bucks and pay no interest.

That is what I like.

I rarely use cash anymore....debit card, credit card, e-transfer....quick, painless, no fees and no pocket full of change to dump out every night

has its advantages I guess. im old school, don't need a electronic record of every where my money goes

i have had my bank card skimmed, and money stolen out of my account.
Bank randomly take your money when they feel like it, ext

cash is king. Gold bars even better

Not sure where you got local from that? There's nothing local about convenience stores in every downtown Calgary building...

With my credit card I get the following advantages: 2% cash back, double warranty coverage on purchased items, much better thef protection, tons of insurance protection options, advantages booking travel (hotels, cars, concierge), price protection, etc... So yes I support businesses that take credit card.
What kind of credit card is that. Jeeeeeze sounds pretty good to me lol.

Capital One Aspire... I've had a few ones in my day and this one is the best hands down. My second card is the Westjet card, good perks on that one too but not as good as Capital one.

We use westjet CC exclusively and try to pay for everything including business materials/transactions. The points build up quickly and we go on a vacation yearly with the points. No blackouts or silly games with restrictions either.

What I love about my CC is $0 deductible insurance for car rentals if booked using the card. Saved myself 400 bucks last time I rented a car.
