How old are the vids ,I would check about a statute of limitations first off.
Secondly , what proof do they have this was not on private land ?

These are questions to be asked of both sides ....to start with .
I would not meet with him, I would tell him to contact your lawyer .
And he & you will discuss it and advise ...if and when a meeting might take place .

i find it odd for them to phone you and want to meet with you... i would see if they conduct business that way... i think this could be a set up or joke. I know a guy that lives in Irricana that got charged with 3 counts of the water act. He recieved total fines of 15 grand and had to take a lawyer. This was about 4 years ago here. He had posted videos of riding in fresh water that are fish bearing up by Rocky Mnt House. But they did not phone or ask for a meeting, they just came over to his place and issured him the charges and took both his machines away. This is what i think they work like but to phone and ask for a meeting to discuss things seems odd.. i would check with rcmp first and see if what they are doing is the norm.

By having a call from f and w about any grey activities would hopefully mean he is now educated. I do agree on the educate and enforce. First comes the educate though. If the f and w would have explained What they believe the op has done wrong, and to stop the activity in the future, it should have the same effect. THey know who he is, and regardless of how this turns out, it's on his record indefinitely. Next time he gets caught, nail him to the wall. That could have been done with the first phone call, no need for a meeting imho. They are looking to charge and are skipping the educate portion, or have already determined they will try to make an example of him for being proud of what they allege he did. Either way, I'm not condoning possible infractions, the same way I'm not condoning a fishing trip by f and w.

IT will take some time for all to understand the ramifications of the few, and self regulation will be the best enforcement. Tell those breaking The rules you will report them if they do not cease immediately. If they continue, go straight to step 2. Sometimes you can't fix stupid.

Delete vids off youtube, and don't talk to the guy. They have nothing(little evidence) unless you give it to them.

Maybe call a Lawyer too.
It's too late for deleting, they already have copies of them. Covering your a$$ by hiding/deleting any other vids on your personal electronics is probably a good idea before they subpoena them is maybe good. Hopefully it is a setup by a buddy and all for naught.

Probably have copies, but maybe not? Either way I'd take them down. Best not to post vid's of illegal activity on youtube.

Same opinion here. Don't meet him unless he finds you. When he does repeat your name politely as an answer to any question he asks. Definitely delete your vids

As mentioned already purge your system on YouTube, tell your buds to delete theirs (Facebook too).
Honestly once you get what you need delete this post as well... it's incredibly easy to google search to find all your forum usernames on different websites that will help connect all the dots.

seriously... do the police phone you first and ask you to come and meet them... NO .. they show up on your doorstep once they have enough info to charge you! Thats the same way Fish and Wildlife would work. IF they dont i would be suprised that they are going about it this way... CHECK with Rcmp if they can do it this way.. i doubt they can.. IF there doing it this way , they are fishing and thats not the way its done... If your guilty they are going to come to your home and handcuff you and charge you. Not pity pater around the bush to get info.

Do you know if they where actually Fish and wildlife or is that just what they said?? i can phone you too and say that and i want to meet somewhere and i am from fish and wildlife.... check it out with the RCMP.

Anyone posting pics or vids, also needs to shut off gps on phone, as this info is recorded with pic, have phone erased and computer now, they can come to your place and seize these at any time whether you like it or not!

Whoa whoa whoa, there's a whole bunch of BS flying around in this thread.
First off the root of the problem is the recent influx of staff into the F&W and other assorted AB outdoors organizations, these people need to justify to Rachel that all of his ridiculous over staffing will pay off, they are attempting to build cases against people by fishing (trying to get someone to admit to committing a crime while the law enforcement agency in question has little to no evidence) this is immoral and illegal, two of the NDP's favourite new words. Tell this officer if he calls again that you are unable to speak to him regarding this matter have him contact your lawyer, generally they will give up here because it will now take some level of skill and effort to build a case, 99% of these new hires are lazy and completely lacking in ambition. Still wouldn't hurt to purge your social media and digital devices.
Secondly, regardless of what these fear mongers tell you they cannot simply come to your home and go through your digital devices or any of your property for that matter or seize anything unless they have due cause or are charging you with something, for either of these to happen they must have compelling evidence, since they are calling you I am guessing that they are not able to prove anything at this point. If you actually committed an offence and there is digital evidence that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that it is you, well, your fkd, lol. Good luck

I know him as well as the others involved. If I'm not mistaking they were caught riding in said water. My family member took the 1000 fine and A tried to fight the ticket and the result was as you mention here . The cops sure weren't messing around that's for sure. Took computers, cameras, 4 wheelers you name it.

I tend to agree that this is a fishing expedition on their part. A chat with a lawyer might be useful but keep it brief. Yhis guy might be just trying to put a scare into you. Might not even show up. Keep us posted :)

With all mentioned above but related, in MT(i know its not canada) fish & game have the right to enter and sieze without normal probable cause that cops have giving them the right to basically be above the law. Cover your azzets!

At one time it was best to tell the truth and be open and honest. Not no more... Times change, guys are looking to put a feather in their cap and do not care about you, nor do they have any morals....be the same way back.

To all riders in the future. Stay out of the water. Cross stream and get out. You never know who or what is filming you in the bush now. Better way to protect our future riding also. Cross and get out. We have been saying for years to keep out of the water and quit posting videos or pictures on this public forum. Good luck.

I don't know why people feel the need to post videos of their activities anyway.

Why do people think that others give a **** about their activities and want to watch them.

Seems narcissistic to me.
