19 days to the provincial election and the NDP are ahead in the polls....

Oh and Alberta can probably kiss any chance of a pipeline being built to the coast goodbye.

Like any government in power there are allegations of misuse of funds but you would think that there would be a great apprehension of the ongoing idiotic governing of a once prosperous province to dissuade the voters. The polls were not accurate in the federal election as I recall.

We talk about our Castle Area Park thing, and BC National Park for Southern part of the Province could see its largest land grab that I shared on another thread.

Conflict of interest by the party that's in power has put it on hold till a government steps into power.

Lem as I hope I'm wrong

All the outdoor people had better get serious and realize how quickly CPAWS and the Y2Y movement jumped in and started to get a big chunk of their master plan into effect with the NDP in power in Alberta. If the NDP get elected in BC, it will be a real eye opener for people who recreate in the great outdoors. WildSight will spear head the formation of parks, the banning of trophy hunting, the banning of OHV's, and the creation of a park from the US border up to Kananaskis that may even go far enough west to include the Columbia River Trench.

The last time the NDP were in power in BC, a large chunk of the south eastern corner was slated for a park for another large piece of Y2Y. At that time, it was from the US border to Kananaskis and from the AB border to the height of land on the west side of the Elk River. If the Liberals had not have won the election, this corner would have been closed to motorized recreation.

BC has to vote and re-elect a majority Liberal government.

Conservative party is essentially non-existant in BC, Liberals are the most right wing mainstream party.

Either way I think Alberta will be cheated of it's pipelines.

Bad part is if Liberals don't get a majority it's likely that the Green and NDP parties will have enough seats to hold power.

This might be a different story if there is a change in government. Might be that is.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...-walks-away-from-national-park-plan-1.1286212

The First Nations folks signed onto this deal as they get exclusive rights too hunt in this new National Park with out interference from non First Nation folks.

It will make our Southern Alberta Castle Area Park look small.

She's one massive chunk of lands my friends.

Let's hope a new government plan does not bring it into a reality.

As ABMax24 said, "Conservative party is essentially non-existent in BC.". The lower main land is chuck full of conservation minded environmentalists and they are going to support the "keep it in the ground mentality". That is where the majority of the votes are in BC and if the NDP form the government, it is going to be trouble for all outdoor enthusiasts.

I think the fawkin idiots will get the fawkin idiot (NDP) party elected. Personally I'm terrified and for much bigger reasons than just some recreation areas. The NDP is playing pretty heavily on government waste (which they are the masters of), government crookedness, and big corporate backers and I fear that enough will support that because they want "change". Our economy will chit and the dregs will get an even better free ride. So far the NDP platform consists of removing tolls from bridges that aren't paid for yet, giving $400/year to renters, $10/day childcare for families that earn under $40,000/year, strengthening tenants rights in the residential tenancy branch, and building a ton of subsidized housing in the lower mainland to tank the real estate market. They're also getting all political over log exports like suddenly they're going to wave a wand and the corporations are going to build a bunch more mills. It's pure drivel aimed at the stupid and lazy that want it all handed to them.

Wife and I were joking about selling our place, quitting the landlord game and moving into our parents suite if NDP get in so we can cash out before real estate falls then collect our rent subsidy.

If you want some humour read the comments section on the CBC article on the election, everyone complaining about the $10 billion in debt the BC Liberals added over the last 4 years, apparently they are too blind to look over the border and see the $10 billion the NDP will add to Alberta this year...
