Anyone used False Creek Health Center in Vancouver for knee surgeries or other? Going to find place asap.. it's torn meniscus and chipped knee cap but apparently 6-12 months to see knee people and up to 18 months for actual procedure in Red Deer... and I sure can't continue like this... MRI is done as I paid the $725 Otherwise ~6 month wait under AHC...

If anyone has input or suggestions please do so..

Thanks

Honestly, your best bet (coming from someone who tore his ACL, Half my MCL, and had a major Meniscus repair) is to drive out to Banff and sit in the emergency. After a full year of waiting for MRI's, seeing "specialists" in Calgary, I finally got sent out there. Met with Dr. Heard, and without even opening my file, with just 2 pulls on my knee he knew exactly what it was, which was confirmed by the MRI. He did my Surgery out there as well and it was quick and left me super happy.

Wouldn't think even think of going somewhere else. If I wrecked my knee, I'd be driving out to Banff and seeing them. Heard very good thinks about Dr. Hemstra as well.

I would suggest trying the Calgary Knee and Shoulder clinic. I blew up my knee last winter (ruptured petellar tendon, complete tear on the ACL and MCL and torn meniscus). Was into the clinic in three days and had my first surgery the next by Dr. Steven French at Calgary South Health. Cant say enough positive about the care I received. In your case I wouldn't give up on the public side yet. Get your family doctor to refer you multiple clinics and orthopedic surgeons and get on their lists as one may get you in sooner. If your considering going private I've heard there is a great orthopedic knee surgeon in Kalispell, Mt. Just so you have something to compare with the Vancouver clinic. Good luck and speedy recovery which ever way you go!
