Im not sure anyone is yet thinking solar ships, but why not hydrogen??? I do often wonder why the hydrogen fenom never took off. The ballard fuel cell looked great on paper.
Go down to the US and talk to the people who have solar & wind power in there back yard ... They are not overjoyed about it , I can tell you that ...
While better forms of renewable energy are evolving every day , it's not as easy as build it and they will come ....
Some people ( mostly young urban ) who have only flown over our country ( some don't own a car) have no idea of the logistics of moving product across mountain ranges, let alone the globe ...
Electric long haul semis & solar powered container ships are a long ways off ....not with standing the fact the aforementioned people don't even take the logistics issues into account .

There are large distribution warehouses in Calgary that use hydrogen fuel cells in their forklifts and pallet jacks. Quite a few also use solar panels on their roof. In Balzac there are s couple large DCs using win generators as well.

................ Now the fun begins...............

Dennis, I know your tongue is firmly planted in your cheek but this isn't going to be fun. It is going to be a disaster because of the mamby-pamby justice system. The protestors will have a hay day and it will take years to make a decision as to what the powers to be are going to do them.

That pipeline will never be built. The oil companies will meet every regulatory requirement set before them, then the Indians and the foreign environmental movement will challenge the pipeline in court. All funded by Indian affairs money meant for the Indian bands and by offshore special interests like the tides foundation and Greenpeace.
Add to that there will be a constant stream of left wing enviro-tards blocking the construction sites, and the crown prosecutors will continue to release them without charge or consequence, and the liberal media will back them up all the way.

The meat don't taste the same? What a maroon. What most people don't understand is that the oil sands is the largest naturally occurring oil spill on the planet. The oil companies are actually cleaning it up!

personally I had never heard of that until I read it here on S&M some time ago. Maybe the powers to be need to do a better job and explain that to the masses including south of the border.

was watching the news this morning and an environmentalist was shaming Christy Clark for going against the will of the people in BC. I took a look at the poll today and now shows 75% in favour. Time to get the 75% out and protest against these idiots.

The radical enviros only hear what they want in any case ....., last time I checked the planes we all travel on and the cars everyone drive all burn the same fuel ...!Zero credibility.

We waste way to much time and energy catering to them , rather than working toward a more sustainable energy source ...

Imagine what the trillions of $$$ invested in energy R&D could have accomplished as apposed to finding its way in lawyers and government funded studies .....!!
