- I wanted to share something with all my snowmobile friends and family in hopes that we can help them out. These are good friends of mine who have the biggest hearts.
- Here is there story.
- Courtenay and Joel Hamilton are a beautiful young couple in Moncton, NB who, against all odds, are expecting a baby! After cancer treatments left Courtenay unable to conceive, they chose surrogacy to help make their dreams of becoming parents come true. That's where many of us, including me, came to "know" C&J, and follow their amazing journey via Courtenay's and the Surrogate’s blog entries.
As everyone knows, having a baby is expensive! But imagine needing to pay around $20,000 just to MAKE a baby. That's how Baby Hamilton came to be, through love and science. And now 12 weeks in the making, and lovingly dubbed "Squishy", he or she has comfortably settled into the surrogates belly while Courtenay and Joel (im)patiently await Squishy's arrival in November.
The surrogate or egg donor do not make ANY money from this, but Squishy's journey thus far has been an expensive one. Though love is free, science cost a lot of money. IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), egg retrieval, medications and supplies are just some of the ingredients in the making of this baby. All of the medical expenses must be paid for by Courtenay and Joel. Not to mention their travel costs and time away from work as the "baby making" happened in Ontario. Squishy will be born in Manitoba where the surrogate lives, so Courtenay and Joel will need to fly up and stay in a hotel for a few weeks with baby before flying home. To top it all off, Joel has recently lost his job up in Fort MacMurray due to the devastating fire.
I cannot imagine the underlying financial stress that is clouding this couple's elation during what is one of their most exciting life's adventures!
Please help to alleviate their medical bills and travel costs so that Squishy's parents can breathe a little easier as they prepare to enter parenthood. Thank you so much to everyone who donates, every little bit helps!!
