Lock it or loose it !!!

Since this is in a thread of losing vehicles, if a person does lose a vehicle, is there anyone that is using a tracking device? There are ones that work off satelites, and there are ones that workon cellular coverage and require a monthly or yearly subscription. I believe the hard mounted units that run on cellular coverage are better in many ways but they would be quite expensive to have.
What is everyones experience with these?

Yes open format of vehicles, trailers, UTV's/ATV's, sleds, Kows and Horses, Ha.

Clowns are out there looking for open opertunitys too benefit from others too reward them selves or too brokers they owe too.

This clowns are in for anything that is high in value and easy to grab, Edmonton, Calgary and areas other than that are fair game in these dudes ideas, so any-thing and ideas help in putting a curb in their activities.

Trick is to prevent stuff from walking away, or at least slow or make it not worth going after,,, and lesson chances of encounters too.

It takes all of us too make it not worth the effort, time, and their profits if they have too struggle at these tasks.

Some dudes have nothing to loose, the majority of these folks think opposite too this, "kinda" that is.

My crap ain't worth going after, but that does not mean I'd miss it as I would, the thread is too offer ideas for those of us that "choose" too put a kink in these operations so others and us continue to have what we own.


Lem on ideas too make it harder in the over all realm of things.

Us as a whole put pressure on these clowns as they soon find out that it just ain't worth it too get hung-up in a Grizzly Bear Trap so to speak.

Question for the guys that say 'thats what insurance is for', wouldn't ICBC or whoever your insurer is make you wait 30 days before they start to think about paying you out for your losses due to theft?

Imo the thought of 30 days of not riding is definitely worth the 5 or so minutes it takes to decorate my toys with chains/locks

I use a Spot Trace and it is hidden in my truck all the time. I have to recharge the batteries maybe once per month. The spot trace works on GPS and not cell coverage. I also have one that works on cell coverage but don't use it anymore because it only works on 2g and not 3g or LTE. Save yourself the headache and get a spot trace.

Yes if its command started it will die unless it detects the key fob. If the truck is already running the fob is basically useless as long as the truck isn't turned off.

Depends, I may switch insurance after this. I opened the claim on the 9th of Dec - I was called and left a message on my work phone monday which was stolen as well - Tuesday I called that morning, and Thursday and left a message and no response back. Today my adjuster voicemail said she is off from the 16th - 28th. Called the claims department and spoke to someone else and they took down my info and asked questions. Then tell me that within 5 business days they will have the investigation done and either they find the truck and I take it back or they pay me out. So, I asked what about the 6 business days that just passed since I opened my claim, tells me well now that we have your info it starts from today so if we find it and its not damaged it will go back to you - Hope its trashed - chop shop - burned or wrote off I don't want something back after its stolen. Buddy has insurance that is 72hrs and if not found brand new.

News flash ... even if it is locked, thieves still steal it. They do not care if you try your best to keep it, if they want it ..they take it. It is a simple as that. Then they have a good laugh at people blaming each other that it is their fault for not doing enough. How did we ever get to this retarded thinking? It is the owners fault it is stolen, it is the home owners fault i fell, lets sue. it is McDonalds fault the coffee was too hot it burned my leg. It is the guns fault for the murder...lets ban guns. It is your fault my kid drown in your pool...not mine for being a lousy, lazy parent. The twisted thinking list goes on and on. Lets get back who ever did it has to take the full blame...no more buck passing.

Yuppers, if they want it "and if" it starts its gone, this might be the key word in the puzzle, but not a for sure in the Any-whos or who knows what.

A person protects this, but that ain't locked down, that is secure but that over there walked away, the list is end-less and it seems that it's an "on-going" forever thing for all of us too change with what's going on at all times.

This idea is to encourage those of us that choose too to step up our game plan at these what-evers that come along, as mentioned that insurance companies are getting harder and harder too deal with when things go south,,, always happy to take your funds with happy faces, lights turned on with flags blowing in the wind saying shop here.

But when their phone rings they rush out there too pull down the flags, turn out the lights and lock the doors, all sad people as they hope you don't spot them hiding under their desks in the dark,,, "in a way that is."

Then drag their feet the whole distance by offering less than value as we all pay over and above the cost of replacement from day one.

Trick that I see is too nip the clowns in the butt before things go that far, this thread shows that and should be shared with these insurance companies as how us that live here in our corner of the Americas are dealing with clowns the best we can.

So far we know a few things...

These clowns are:

Up to no good.
Taking advantage we're they can.
Some crafty, others not so much.
After big ticket items and small if easy to access.
Brazen in day or night.
Risk takers at times.
No hart or feelings too others and their stuff.
Maybe other mental issues are factors too.

So en so owes so en so too.

Sled season is under-way, and these dudes will target this area again. All it takes is one rig with loud security system too put a kink in their operations,,, the bad thing for them is to encounter many units like this all season long,,, and not get too opertunity too depart with 1 truck and trailer.

This my friends is what starts too put a kink in these operations.
If my sled was at my truck, they would only rock my ship once at night time as I sleeped in my rig at night time.
14 years and was only woke up 7 or 9 times in Alberta and BC.

All got the chance to run as I'm like waking up a Grizzly Bear from a bad sleep, Ha.
Lucky thing is that I'm not fast on my furry feet at 2am in the night skies, but what I lack in speed I gain in tracking, LOL.

My solution to this problem implant every known thief with a tracking device, no jail time for first offence just an implanted device. Report it stolen at a location and bam the police know who was at the location. Now I know this would be a total inconvenience to all the thieves... but it would work.
