lol, from what i have heard on snow n mud, we should all buy chevies, as thieves don't even want them! lol.

Always thought this was true until thieves stole my 85 chev from my field. They replaced the broken alternator and water pump belts then stole a battery out of my grain truck to get it running.

Yes, it's darn near a career now days, surprised the universities don't offer a BA or masters degree in it.

Yes we can insure, and some of us can take a hit on the small stuff,,, but the worst part for me would be the time it takes to get the toy or truck rigged up the way I like it.

Even that small stuff takes time to restock.

Chatting with my pal on this it seem that if these clowns find easy pickings, then why not continue as its way to easy too keep on doing it.

We/us/ I all need to up our game plan as it makes them work 2 or 3 times harder at grab and dash,,, the down fall is they will look at other avenues of B & E which would be even worser. This is a bad situation if these clowns change tactics.

One never knows what direction things could go if easy pickings disappear.

Food for thought as my planning gets more under way.

My Pal knows one thing, he does not want them in his house, as it would not go down for either party.

Instead of locking things up its time to start hanging these wastes of skin, instead of slapping them on the wrists these guys know that they can do this it's easier to take the challenge, if they knew they were gonna get shot hung or killed I bet theft would be cut in half, people always say God I'd never take someone's life over stealing my truck, well ask the thief if it's worth his life first, if so we'll give it a try but I bet if there was threat half wouldn't try it I don't think just my 2cents

These guys jacking stuff are career criminals and doing it for a profit, nothing else. They are organized and I wouldn't be surprised if some are even members on here. There is big bucks to be made 10 to 20k a month. You'll have the odd Crack head doing small stuff.

Makes me wonder too as the 2 chop shops that just got shut down were in it for the money too fuel the addiction.

There is no way a 8 to 5 job would fuel these dudes needs for a hour little lone a month.

3 major dudes at the one take down and if I recall there were 4 or 5 at the other one.

Those guys got shut down, so 8 too 12 others will have to open shop for the loss in revenue.

All this is in a 30 km circle of our area,,, just think of the shops at the 7 major city's in our province little long Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

The system is broken big time, so it's up to us too put some challenges to these activities.

All of us that have been around for a few years see this trend, and it's deffinatly growing year by year.

These clowns don't even think twice about B&E and bank machines are a constant thing in the news across Canada.

This break down of human trust is tuff on us that believe in kindness of human kind. I for one am a person who lives this idea/thought, but it's starting to change when my Co workers, friends, and family share in stories of things missing and clowns driving the roads at night into their yards.

Good to keep a level head as one might choose to change things up a bit that "could" prevent us from becoming victims of our stuff going missing.

As I mentioned before, lots of deterrent at my end of things, and a few more ideas too really put a system in place so things stay where they are.

This will be another year of stolen trucks, trailers, and sleds.

Time for each of us too put a kink in the system.

Putting in a hidden shut down switch is one frugal way to prevent the truck from going anywhere. $15 to $20 of hidden switch and wire tied in on the starter wire harness stops the unit from going any where. Takes 1 hour too install.

Trailer needs an alarm system that is hard to get at that slows the clowns down.
Loud out side of the trailer, and 7 X's louder in side.
Good system from $300 to $500 will alert all with in 1 km that something is going on.

If this missing stuff went on last year and the many years before, then it's the matter of time that it will happen alot this year.

Take the time all too LOCK IT OR LOOSE IT since these clowns are lined up waiting to fill there boots.

I'd post pictures of my home made system, but Lapp top is down.

Easy to slow this stuff down and keep the honest in there place.

Only takes one too wreck our outtings, so time to make them think it ain't worth the effort.

Sure hope everyone takes the time to help us all scare the crap out of the next door handle flipper.

When i lived in the us, I always liked the way Montana did their plates. Every county has the first 2 numbers of the plate. So if u saw some other county number in ur ally at 4 am chances are he's not supposed to be there. Granted not perfect but created awareness. The other great thing they did was elect the sheriff.

I wish I had time for nabour hood watch, but the folks up and down our roads keep an eye on the happenings, same for me when I'm out that way.

And small town issues are going on too.

It won't be long now that sled season is under way before someone chimes in that truck, trailer and all the sleds are missing. If I recall there were 7 or 10 of these threads last year alone.

That's not counting the ones we don't hear about.

Only a guess, but I would think it works out too 1 fully loaded rig per night if not 2 or 3,,, Ontario and Quebec would be higher than that maybe.

It boils down to us the owners too put a kink in the issue as we make it much harder for the clowns then its worth.

We are actually 3 organizations. Citizens on Patrol, Neighborhood watch, and Block Parent. You could choose to be a member of any of the 3 if wanted. I am mostly involved in Citizens on Patrol. We are extra eyes and ears for the police and patrol on our own schedule. We only ask for members to patrol once per month if possible. It really does not take too much time to be a member.
If interested in helping stop crime check out Acopa | to see what communities are involved.

Will do Phat cat, lots on the go right now.

Calgary just released a report on stolen autos in their city,,, 4200 so far and the year end tally is not done too year end date.

I'd be interested in what Edmonton's numbers are at ???

These are alarming numbers as things or way out of control.

Lots of locks and ways to slow these clowns down is deffinatly in order.

If we all do our part, it will put a kink in these clowns activities, and not make it worth their while in future planning.
