DesRosiers releases Canadian sales report for June.. CHRYSLER leading the way

The Canadian auto market is halfway to another record year, sitting comfortably ahead of last year.
Sales finished 6.0 percent higher for the first half of 2016, without a clear sign of slowing down. The market rebounded strongly in June after a slower month in May. Sales improved 7.4 percent year-over-year to 191,088 units – a new June sales record.
Total sales of SUVs, pickup trucks and vans were 124,594 units, 13.9 percent higher than June 2015. Passenger car sales remained sluggish, dropping 2.9 percent year-over-year.
June exhibited a wide range of sales performances. Jaguar (+175.5%) led the industry in percentage growth last month. Jaguar entered the luxury SUV market for the first time in June. Hyundai (+41.3%) nearly overtook Honda in June sales after an unexpectedly strong month of sales. On the other hand, smart (-50.8%), Volkswagen (-21.2%), Acura (-12.3%) and MINI (-10.7%) showcased that current market conditions can be volatile.
FCA led the industry at the halfway point with 152,439 in sales and 15.4 percent market share. Ford (149,842 units) is a close second, and they captured the highest selling total in June. General Motors at 130,202 units came in third in year-to-date sales.

Interesting on that list that all the the higher end "luxury" brands all have gained in sales over last year. That being said, if the economy sucks so bad who is buying all these fancy vehicles?

American brokers buying at a 30% discount. Ship them to the states and make a nice tidy profit.

Economy is solid everywhere except in the Oil and Gas Industry. Eastern Canada and Vancouver are especially strong.
