Does anyone have any leads/referrals for someone (or a company) that could appraise a coin collection? If anyone has gone through it, how much did it cost?

Me and my siblings inherited our fathers collection from his estate. We cannot decide how to split it.. none of us care so much for the monetary value, but we still might like to divide things reasonably equally, or at least know the value for insurance purposes. The problem is we don't want to spend the entire value of the collection, just to have it appraised....

All ideas welcome......

GO!

The only coin collecting I do, is in my cupholder...normally I only receive face value at Tims or McDs LOL

On a serious note, the reputable pawn shops will usually 'value' the collection if you take it in. Once valued, you have the option to keep the collection but you may have a better idea as to the value.

Not a bad idea.... except for the fact that it's a huge collection. Not something they can do in an hour or two... I will probably have to hire someone, as they will need access to it for days (possibly a couple weeks)

Oh...well you didnt explain that part haha

There are some collector forums that might me able to help, but you would have to catalog the whole works and likely photograph it all

Get ahold of these guys, they have been in the business for years and will be able to recommend who you need to see, or may be able to do it themselves. I have been buying from them for quite few years now and they are great to deal with.
