Cut down a tree in my back yard and it keeps sprouting all over mine and my neighbors yard. I tried drilling holes in the stump and put diesel and round-up with no results. Anybody have ideas what to do:confused:

That works if the tree is alive and needs moisture ......... I did it and it seemed to work all right. Other than that it depends on the tree. Poplars have so many root systems below the surface sometimes you just need to dig it up and get rid of them :( Especially really old ones.

They have stump grinder things to get rid of stumps...grinds it way down into the ground.
Also, I know people (haven't done it myself) that will put gas down in it and burn 'er up

Round up needs actual green growth/leaves to work...you could use it on the shoots that come up and it'll spread through the tree but it wouldn't work on just the stump-needs the green growth.

I'm not sure what kind of tree it was.....some kind of poplar/weed! I also read about salt peeder or something like that. Anybody try it? Digging up is not an option as the neighbor has alot of brick and patio stone. The stump is also still alive cause it keeps sprouting there as well.

Thats what we used to do drill some deep holes in the stump and fill them full of diesel it would absorb into the roots and kill it off

Round Up doesn't work on trees. There are specialty herbicides for trees, but most people can't get it due to the regulations. When the county sprays my ditch in the spring, the poplars are dead within weeks.

I guess I'll have to put on my farmer clothes and head down to the UFA:d:beer:

I have a buddy that drilled holes in a poplar tree stump and poured antifreeze in the holes every few weeks - no more growth afterwards.
