Garage Heater

was wondering what is a good heater for the garage it's about 20x20...i seen a few at Princess Auto was looking at a Mr.Heater buddy,little buddy and big buddy.
Also looked at 1500 watt electric heater,convection propane heater...i only have 110 in the garage so it's that or propane,any advise is greatly apprectiated,Thanks in advance

I have a Big Buddy and I can lend it to you and if you like it go buy one,Just couldnt keep up with the house furnace in the garage,may even sell it to you.

i have used them all it seams and nuthing heats a garage like a natural gas furnace. anything electric is a waste of time and propane heaters takes the edge off but the fumes arent the greatest thing for you.

convection propane heater i havent used but i dont think it will heat a 20x20 very well even with insulation.

good luck! just bite the bullet and plumb a natrual gas line in... and the furnace is only about 600-800 more :beer:

Just say no to porpane or electric heat, by the time you waste your money you would of paid for the furnace. Dont be the weakest link and buck up the 800 bucks and do it properly and at the very least do it for safety.

I have a Mr.Heater 40,000 btu on propane, It works well in a small area.

The best bet to spend the extra money and put a natural gas furance in the garage

Propane tends to throw alot of moisture. Depending on the type of heater. Forced air or radiant is your best bet depending on your set up. I lke radiant but you need ceiling good hieght .

I have a 23,000 BTU Ruffneck hangin' from the ceiling in the corner by the door on a bit of an angle. The garage measures 15' w x 25' l with a 9' roof. The unit itself is about 8 yrs old and works like a charm. Check them out :beer:

Go with forced air unit heater, problem with tube heaters is that if you don't have high enough ceilings it will cook the paint on your vehicles. I've installed both Lennox and Reznor's and haven't had any problems.

i have 220v in my garage and i run a 500w heater in there. it works fine and i have put a few in for buddies and they are happy with them

Here's what i was thinking about now,any feedback on this item and is it a good one and worth the money.
Also looking at how much would it cost to install,does anyone install these and could give me a ballpark?
I have gas line running through the garage already to the inside of the house

I have infared 22 x 24 garage natural gas keeps it warm payed 1000 200 to hook it up i do like the forsed air also up to you

I've been shopping around:

Lennox 45000BTU about $850.00. Good service record.

Armstrong 45000BTU about $755.00.
Armstrong 60000BTU about $855.00.

Reznor 60000BTU about $748.00. Some like, some don't.

Power Assist 45000BTU about $850.00

Modine 75000BTU about $620.00. Comes well rated.

They all have there purpose, I like the tubes and if you keep it 30inches away from cars they are good to go. What ever you spend on the heater you will spend on gas, venting, and hooking up. They are all good untill it burns your house down.LOL

I have the Reznor 45000hanging in my garage. Had it for six years not a problem. My parents just put the same heater in their garage going off reliability I've had with mine. Mounts on the ceiling so nothing taking up floor space. Highly recommend:d

Living on a acreage with lots of trees, I put a new wood stove in my 26' X 32' garage. Works great, and lots of free firewood!
