Best way to clear a gravel driveway

Just spent a lot of money putting in a new gravel driveway this summer - what is the best way to clear the snow from it. Large acreage driveway.

I have used a skid steer in the past but hate picking gravel from my lawn in the summer - do snowblowers work well for leaving the gravel surface relatively untouched????

I use a blade on my quad.Try and leave the first few snowfalls to pack. Then hopefully you don't get down to the gravel when you start plowing.

Like Mike said I've been using a blade on my quad to cleen snow in my yard for 12 years, and you have to leave the first couple snow falls to drive on and harden and you are away.

no pics but just fab up two pieces one on each end out of tubing cut in two and 4 inches wide and longer bolts, stops your blade from digging in.

If you ever rode with Al you would think he uses pads.

Yah... what woodies said. Pack the first half inch nice 'n hard. Plus pads as well. Should have pads on any plow for gravel drives IMHO.

Happy plowing If we ever get any snow

pack down the first couple of snowfalls. I have a wooden skid that I use with about 100lbs of weight on it. Drives it into the gravel a bit better and keeps it smooth. A couple of tires dragged behind does the same thing.

I have used pads on the bucket of a skidsteer and that works pretty well. I have a longer drive way and nothing beats a blade. I have a 4 way on the front of my tractor - and for me it is twice as fast as the bucket.
It's not the years, it's the mileage........
