Advice requested to reseal travel trailer roof...

Hey, last weekend before we went camping, noticed we need to reseal our roof on the travel trailer. Going to do it tonight.

Any advice on ways to fast track it, or do it screw-up free ?

We think that first all the old sealant stuff has to come off. Scraper or something better ? And then what ? :dontknow:

Rubber or tin roof......?? you need sealant that will be compatible with thr rubber roof....the tin roof can be done with a good exterior latex....... read the tube to check if it is compatible with the material your using it on......if your not sure you can call edmonton RV supplies... they will tell you what to use. First thing, is the roof of the trailer just fiberglass or aluminum? Or is it a rubberized coating? You can scrap the fibreglass or aluminum, but you can not cut the rubberized roof skin types. Use the recomended rv roof sealer and be generous with the application.

Where is the leak? Around a vent? You might just remove the vent and put new putty under it, then screw it back down and then use the sealer over the screws.......??

I have a tin roof on the camper and last year I bought a can of roofing repair tar, cleaned up allthe joints with a scraper and painted on the tar with a brush.... it is temperature flexable and will not crack in the winter cold.

Has worked good on mine.

i bought some stuff i used on our old camper a few years back. its a clear fexible paint on sealer. worked awesome. will do the same on this piece of crap. our old camper was 10yrs old since the guy did the roof this trailer is 4 and its leakin. wtf i guess we all get what we pay for.

Trade it in, get a new one, Circus Man will give you a deal, get off the big pile of money under you and enjoy!

If it's a tin roof with a seam leaking the best product I have seen that works very well is called PLAS-T-COTE made by ELIXIR
