Sled in Valemount alot but would like to check Blue River, heard its great! Can someone tell me if its suitable for my wife to tag along, she's a beginner with only 2 trips to the mountains under her belt. She's riding a 2007 600 Rev 144. She has done both Clemina and Chapell with little to no trouble.

I've only ridden Parberry at Blue River. Your wife shouldn't have any problems there.

Keep in mind that nothing is groomed there.

no grooming and no warm up shelters, I would call a guide for your first couple of trips...oh no holiday inn either!

Blue River Trails

HI "The Rocket Bunny"

Well when you ride Blue River you go back into time by 10 to 15 years.

- They have one full service hotel.
- The trails are not groomed - was there on February 17-18 and the trail moguls were hugh.
- Takes a long time to reach good riding areas on bumpy trails.
- No warm-up shelters or trail facilities
- No open alpine areas that give you that safe turn out or run off if the climb is bad.
- Cut blocks mean lots of stumps

BUT
- Snow in town is over 4' high
- snow on the logging roads at 1/2 to the top were packed at over 6' (probed)
- Fantastic snow, lots of it, means snowing or cloudy days with little sun.
- most riding is trees, cut blocks and logging roads with lots of powder

My recommandation is it is more for hard core guys.
- Ladies prefer warm-up shelters, facilities and safer open play areas, once and accident or close call less likly to return with you next time.
- Some safer riding areas with challenges are Clemina, Renshaw, Lucelle and Bell.
