Been looking for information and people with experience with the GMC 6.0L. I've gone from 9MPG on a good day to 15MPG. I operate oil and gas wells. And when I bought this truck i though it was a lemon with that mileage. But the more I looked into it. The more i found that we didnt leave the 9MPG mileage back in the 60's. UNREAL.... General Motors!!!! Got a K&N Cold Air Intake, Helix Power Tower Throttle Body Spacer and a Superchip(thinking i shouldve got bullydog maybe). Anyway got some major gains, but still looking for a little more. Hopefully there'll be some insite. I'm looking for high flow mufflers right now, we do pull trailers so if I can find something that will resemble stock. And we'll see just how far my wife will let me go :d

I average 14mpg with a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500HD Classic 6.0L.
Pulling my 22 foot trailer I get 9mpg.

The truck is stock crew cab, 6.5 foot box 4x4 SLT.

I get around 19 mpg around town and a solid 26 mpg with my 2008 Chevy 1500 extended cab 4x4 with a 5.3 in it, 310 hp, gets around pretty well. Not real sure what I get when I pull my camper, a 21 footer, but I do loose mpg no doubt, but never bothered to check how much, I should do that this spring.
