Well rode last season arctic cat m800 and decided to buy the machine thats receiving good amount of hate for the weight , Yamaha sidewinder mtx162 , And installed tune for 270hp and few other modifications here and there. Its been awesome to read good amount of information here! , For the sled itself , I dont really see the weight penalty , its lighter to ride than the m800 :d . This forum is really great and looking forward to seek more information here and maybe open mouth to talk every once in while .(And sorry for the bad english ,it`s not my mother language)

Welcome to the site. You will find a good amount of info on this site. If you want you can check out the Yamaha thread forum. Lots of cool builds and ideas to go a long with you rig and tune. Don’t worry about your speech. English isn’t a language so don’t worry about that.

Hate is for uninformed and i'll advised.
Some people never see beyond their nose and in the sled world light weight makes sales, similar to using special illegal bait fishing, no matter how unreliable, cheap quality or poor handling a sled is. If its light weight it will sell. All you need to do is check out this forum and there is plenty of evidence and threads to prove this.
While some hate the Yamaha, that's ok cause you will spend more time riding and enjoying the sport while they are chasing warranty claims. Ya, most would get a little sour doing that.
Plus to add ammunition to their hate, getting handed over by a Yamaha on the day's they actually ride add's insult to their injury. Enjoy your ride, with the SW your buddies will either stop riding with you (i've experience) and you might have to find new friends or they will adapt and admit the SW is great sled for the right rider.

Mostly been riding alone but this year have made trips with others and its been great experience! . Its too bad many people are too arrogant to see the other side of things , i have rode the 850 for test and two seasons i had 2 stroke so i have seen the both worlds , And sure they are missing out on this much fun that the sidewinders/4stroke provides! and im planning on to learn little bit of making carbon fiber parts after the season ends , looking to make sidepanels and will start with something small like the windshield , im not after numbers or anything , mostly i enjoy making things with my hands and will be doing some parts from titanium aswell since i sold my project car the diy/custom motivation has to go somewhere :d after if the carbon parts i made make it to the sled i will wrap the sled to matt black . will see how much the offseason has time . i ride here in finland or sweden but next season there might be trip to the revelstoke , i have heard and seen so many great things about the place that i have to come and check it out!

There is a distinct member relationship going on.........those who ride where Sidewinder's aren't fun and those who make the 2 strokes preform what they are real good at. The tight trees are a difficult place for any heavy sleds. The wide open alpine is great for the heavy beasts and those who like the Winder just aren't comfortable in the tight trees and continuously tell us how good the Winder's are. I am not a believer.

You can’t beat the reliability of the sidewinders. A few members here have done a few good build you should be able to find a few threads around here.

To add to this they are easier to ride then some of the 2 smokes out there, especially the T3 with the 174..what a tank for a so called light weight, the Winder run's circles around that thing, they have come a long ways and the Cat chassis rocks, no frills or BS about them.

Your buddies stopped riding with you because of the sled you ride? That's weird.
