My name is Pat (Patrick) Henneberry and this will be my first season of sledding. I'll be buying my first sled at the show in October (2018) and I've been researching the hell out of Ski-Doo. I want to ride on and off trail but I won't be doing any mountain sledding until I get some experience. I've narrowed my choices to a couple crossovers and a sport/utility sled. I know machines from the other big 3 manufacturers are also excellent but I am disgusted by the rhetoric, some of the policies and especially the punitive trade policies against Canada imposed by the current U.S. administration. That's not intended as an insult to anyone nor will I engage in any pro or anti U.S. discussion. I love the country and I am very pro U.S. overall, I went to school there, my sister and many friends still live there, I met my wife there and she moved to Canada with me and I did a lot of military training in the States.

I'm looking forward to learning the finer points of sledding and will take all the advice I can get! I'm also looking forward to joining a club or two and I'll be searching for meetings coming up soon.

Again, feel free to give me any advice you can.

IMHO, I would say you are starting out in a very positive manner. Lots of good information on the site and also a lot of BS. It appears you are well equipped to sort out the kernels from the chaff.
