My sled registration says “vehicul type: snow vehicle”

if a snow bike is allowed but if it’s registation states anything other than “snow vehicle”, Kats really doesn’t have an argument any more, best way to draw the line would be if it doesn’t say “snow vehicle” on the registration it’s not a snow vehicle!

Slippery slope to allow one type of vehicle not registered as a snow vehicle, and not any others. Would like to hear a lawyers opinion, but if it’s good for one, it’s good for all!

I own a pioneer 1000 i have tracks for winter are these allowed on your trails

Well MP, I imagine you weren't expecting this level of discussion for what seemed like a pretty simple question. I tend to agree with the line of thought that an ATV on tracks and used on a snowmobile trail is more snowmobile than ATV so should be OK as that seems reasonable. Obviously there are those who disagree and promise fines as unreasonable that seems.

I would find a different place to ride unless you want to dispute a ticket in front of a judge. I think you would win but really who needs the hassle. Enjoy your ride wherever you choose :)

100% there Mr.Tchetek

It's just snow vechile discrimination at this point.

No need to, I think Kaz Dog is on the payroll.
Wouldn't be caught dead on a NDP payroll.......

My take on this trails discussion is that I have seen - over twenty years now - designated snowmobile trails destroyed by vehicles other than snowmobiles on them. We can get into the details if you would like, but after Waiparous, Ghost, & Maclean Creek formally designated snowmobile trails have been decimated by unregulated and ignorant people on anything else other than an snowmobile/what they were signed as, I will always defend what little designated snowmobile trails that are left.

That, plus my club has put on the ground over $40,000 since the floods of 2013 in repairs to the designated snowmobile trails at Cataract Creek, what have you done to improve the trails that you ride? This does not include the thousands of volunteer hours that have gone into these repairs also.

You think an atv on tracks is going to damage trails? I don't.

So funny story, talking with a warden at the Bragg Creek ranger station today.

He agreed with me 100% that an atv with tracks would be considered a snow vechile and there would be absolutely nothing he could charge me with.......

He said and I quote, " snowmobiles only is the preference of the club"

He said its about being considerate and not damaging the trails, which in 100% agree with.

Oh and I pay trail fees, memberships, donate, participate in clean ups.
Pails in comparison but you have obviously contributed to society more than anyone else, ever.

So now we have snowmobilers fighting with a club that fights to keep the area open. If the club grooms, fixes and maintains the trails, they should have the right to say snowmobile only.

As back country users, instead of wasting energy arguing what is a snow vehicle, why don’t we go fight the closer in the castle.

The only reason I keyed into this thread is there is no government laws preventing any snow vechile from using the trail.

Sledders need to be honest with sledders.

If Kas Dog from the start would have said it is the club policy that only snowmobiles and snowbikes are allowed.

Super, end of discussion.

But don't try and twist the interpretation of laws to suit the club's agenda and lie to the good people of snow and mud.

As for Castle it is a very sad scenario, but I fear democracy will not apply to this situation. NDP have proved this time and time again with their "consultation" periods.

You think an atv on tracks is going to damage trails? I don't.

problem is Mikey, person a with ATV on tracks tours the trails, responsibly does no damage, person B see ATV on trails, and takes ATV not on tracks on tour, makes a huge mess, digs holes, and ruins a groom...... now the VOLUNTEER organizations have to go back out and spend many hours and burn up more diesel to try to repair the damages.......

ATV on tracks may not do damage to the trails, however, ALL SNOWMOBILE CLUBS post NO ATV signs on their trails for the reasoning above.

What if you wrote the government a letter saying your OHV is confused and doesn't want to identify itself as a snow vehicle or an atv? We can have trail neutral signs made up no big bad club bullies saying sleds only.....
