Hello.
My name is Ken.
I live in the Shuswap area of BC.
Mostly have ridden Revy, Sicamous, Clearwater and Coquihala areas.

Planning to buy a new 450 4 stroke bike and a snow conversion kit soon.
So am here to learn more about them.

Will also be riding Valemount and Mcbride mostly this year, with a few Sicamous trips thrown in.
So want to learn more about the areas as well.
Been into the Renshaw once long time ago, and into Lucille twice.
Got stuck in a back narrow valley once in Lucille and spent till 3 am getting out just 2 sleds. No one else in our group dropped into there.
Was thinking that the next day i was going to be spending lots on a helicopter lol.
I rode once into an area south of Valemount, on the west side of the hwy, but cannot remember what it was called.
Sold our snowmobiles, and so now onto what to buy next.
Bikes will be either a Honda 450X or Yamaha 450FX.
Its mostly what snow kit to buy, and length.
Timbersled, Moto trax, Yeti, Camso, or.....?

She only weighs 115 or 135 dressed in winter gear and pack etc ready to ride.
But I am 210 and 235 ready to ride.
Add spare gas and such to that.
Some trails and boondocking.
Hills and deep snow.
We both will pack head lamps in our packs for after dark.
Yes we have beacons, probes, shovels etc.

Anyone know how much gas to expect to burn per hour riding at say medium hard?

Welcome to the site.
Can't answer all your questions, but the areas south of Vale on the west side are Allan Creek and Chappel. Allan is about 8 km in to the cabin. Chappel is about 23 miles and no cabin.

Welcome! I'm building an Fx now. Learning as I go lol. Running a yeti kit. Most of good snowbike info forum wise I get off of snow west. Finding some guys that have been doing it for awhile and picking there brains is best bet. U can spend a lot of money or bare bones it. Can't wait to get mine on the snow and try it out. Might be worth your while to rent two of the different kites and compare before laying out much cash

Thanks.

May I now pick your brain.
What were the main reasons you went with a Yeti?
Did you go 129 or?
Which intake?
Thermobob or?
Heated grips?
Handguards?
Radiator braces?
Engine shields?
Will you carry a jumper batter in your backpack incase you need it....and if so which one?

Thanks.

Went with a 129. I've given polaris enough of my money for now, plus I like supporting a Canadian company. Have talked to a few people about kits and most importantly talked to likes the yeti better. Haven't done the intake yet. Put a thermo Bob in. Hand guards I'll pick up in a few days. Haven't put rad guards on yet. Probably just gonna ride it and adjust from there. I have back up kick on bike, so I'm not sure if I will carry the jump start or not

I decided to build us up two Yamaha 450FX bikes.
Have eliminated some of the other kit makers, down to three.
Cannot even find a phone number for Yeti.
Have sent two emails over the past couple of weeks, but no response.
Moto trax also did not respond back to my voice mail, so it makes me nervous about customer service.
So still not 100% sure if I will get us CMX, Moto Trax, or Yeti.
99.9% sure they will be 129".

Was the Thermo Bob easy to install?

I am considering using an Ice Age headlight.
For sure will get heated grips.

Does 100% of the air to the airbox on the 450fx come from the 2 snorkels up front, or does it get some engine intake air somewhere else as well?
If just there it should be easy to cover them with prefilter material and then i can just remove the actual air filter in the airbox in winter.
I may carry one of those jumper batteries they sell at Home hardware for cold mornings or if a battery gets low from say running the hand warmers.

I PM'D you. Personally I don't know if I'd pull a kit out of states just for parts availability.
