Will the new atv laws affect you during the season? You think there will more traffic than usual?
I for one see pluses and minuses. Where we go for Elk and Moose, we camp pretty close to our main stands, so i will likely still walk in the mornings. There are usually no others in the area, our camp is very obvious, so most hunters driving in will turn around and go elsewhere knowing there are guys (and gals) in there. But if they are on atvs, they may be able to get around and find other trails into the area.
I think if an animal is harvested early enough, and an atv is used to recover it, being able to carry a firearm for bears is a big plus, and an opportunity may present itself to close other tags.
I know we will be on our quads grousing, that will be great for daytrips. Will be able to cover more ground, and maybe limit out a time or two.
If you haven't heard, here is a snip of the new regs:

Hunting with Motorized VehiclesIt is unlawful tol discharge a weapon at antelope from within 46 m (50 yards) of avehicle;l use motorized travel within Willmore Wilderness Park; andl carry a weapon (see definition on page 14) on an OHV between 1hour before sunrise and the following noon during an open seasonfor big game* on public land in the following WMUs: 400-446. Thisdoes not apply to a person who is traveling on a direct route to orfrom a location accessible by vehicles designed for highway traveland his or her isolated campsite, and the weapons and ammunition arecarried out of view in separate locked containers (and remain lockedduring the trip).

Works good for our group
We cannot camp too close to where we hunt so in previous years we get up really early and drive in on the machines and then park them before its legal to hunt.
We also have to remain in the area until at least noon so we can legally drive out.

So I am liking this new law.

Imo this will favour many of the lazy hunters. This will just expand the area the "drive around in their pickup and roll down the window and shoot crowd" can hunt. Now they can just do it on their atv.

I haven't hunted in the last 5 years because of people like this. Sick of walking all morning down a cutline I had my truck parked at the entrance of just to have some idiot on a straight piped quad going ripping by with a rifle on his rack just after noon. Then stop and shoot grouse or whatever right off his machine. Or better yet to have some road hunter glass me with his rifle scope as your out walking because he's too cheap to buy binocs.

If it's to gain access to an area I don't have an issue with it, the problem is it's hard to enforce the 50 meters from the machine part. I see a lot more animals being shot from the seat of an atv.

I think this will get rid of lots of road hunters. Yah sure they will be driving around in there atvs but at least it won’t be so packed. I personally like it I can get deep in the bush and have no reason to be near my truck all day.

I would like to get a CO’s interpretation for wmu 400. Have one gentleman with MS in the group. Be nice for game retrieval.
