Years ago my friend seen a mule buck shot in the chest, called fish and wildlife asked if he could shoot it, they said don’t touch that deer, he watched it for a quite a while, they never did show up he said that would be the last time he’d would ever call again, I was heading target shooting and see a small buck hit on the hiway dragging its back legs called game wardens he said you got a rifle I said yes, he said make sure no one is coming and shoot it, which was good of him, it all depends who you get I guess, I’ve seen many wounded deer after hunting season, I was actually lucky to get a nice wounded whitetail buck, but there’s lots of goons outthere,

i saw lots of cougar tracks and wolf tracks this hunting season. and a few bear tracks.

I find it very strange that there is no snow on the ground. Doesn’t look like there was hours leading up to the kill either. Almost all cat hunters use dogs an snow. My opinion is they were hunting big game an came across a cat an let him have it. Then left him.

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
Oddly enough since I told the no deer around, cougar moved in story yesterday, I saw a nicely built, almost regal, almost mulie, thick looking darkish whitetail doe today. I haven't seen a deer for a month here. Spooky.

you could be right.. it was my first time finding a dead kitty. my buddy who's job is to measure and score all the animals in this area said it was a good healthy male. he said its not surprising to him that I found it as more and more predators in this area. the kitty was maybe a 5 minute walk from from truck

Yes there predators are moving closure to rural areas or maybe we’re moving closure to them. Who knows. What I do know is. In the last couple years I see more and more trail cam photos of cats. Popping up on the web and talking to different hunters. I’ve been hunting a long time and I’ve never seen a live cat. I am not sure the reasoning behind not letting people keep what they find. If you reported it and sustainable resources have what they need for DNA or whatever else they collect you should be free to take it. They either leave it there or it goes in there incinerator and burnt.

I always thought they would make great education tools. You know instead of dissecting a frog in grade 11 why not have them bring in some frozen carcasses of predators. You know. Real world stuff.
