Hey ladies,

I was wondering what your must have is, wether it be for snowmobiling, quadding, or dirt biking? The proper gear obviously but what are something's people tend to over look? Those small things you just can't live without?

I would have to say mine's lip balm! I think I'd die if I went snowmobiling without it.

So what are yours I'd love to hear them!

Hmmmmm. Hair ties prevent me from looking like a wild woman and having my hair sticking in my mouth all day. I seem to lose them through the day, so a stock is required in my pack.
Chocolate milk is a go-to staple of mine too.
And carabiners are a necessity for tethers IMO.

Good question, Katie :). The tricky part is that "the proper gear" isn't always the same list for everyone. For me that includes a chest protector, but a lot of people ride without one. I like my ribs not broken.
Having a tether on my sled, and attached to me is a must have. If the manufacturer doesn't have it on when it leaves the factory, we buy one and install it. I've read too many tragic stories of what can go wrong when that's overlooked. Like Taminator said,a carabiner makes life easy.
A shovel, radio and Spot, even when I'm not in the mountains. Basically I have my avy pack, and a regular backpack. I wear one or the other whenever I ride and just transfer stuff accordingly. That way nothing ever gets forgotten. Zip ties, wire, a little duct tape.....a lighter, all stay on my sled.

Must haves for me, aside from my avy equipment, beacon & airbag pack 1. First aid kit in my pack 2. Survival gear, like a lighter, tampon, tinfoil sheet, hotshots, protein bars 3. Extra pair of gloves 4. Extra pair of goggles 5. Whistle attached to my avy pack on the shoulder strap for easy accessibility 6. Camera 7. Spot 8. Gum & lip balm! 9. Goggle rag in my pocket to clean my gogs without scratching them. There's got to be a 10th thing....I just can't think of what it is! hahahaha

so other than my avy equipment, first Aid, food, safety stuff like matches bivy sac etc, cameras, I like to pack the extra cloth for my goggles in my pockets, lip balm, arnica cream, sunglasses, and TOILET PAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use a burandt tunnel bag for all my "stuff" so my avy pack carries only the necessities. I also have an extra shovel, one of those sno bunjie ones that looks like a little flat perogie, for my stucks. My avalanche equipment stays in my pack till I need to use it to prevent me from losing a shovel blade, handle or my probe. It's in a separate compartment that only is opened when I need to use the equipment either for practice or for real life,

My leatherman gets used at lest once every ride, best tool ever!! I also carry a mini LED flashlight tethered to the inside of my pocket, ziploc bags for icing injuries, plus a ton of tools, survival, first aid and safety gear. If I can fit it, I pack it LOL.

A saw for sledding for when the trees jump out and catch you ;)

A pretty cool little thing for quadding/dirtbiking is condensed towellettes. Come in a pack the size of a rolo bar, and each towel is about the size of a rolo chunk. Just wet it a little bit and it expands and is a nice cleaning cloth (face hands whatever).

Quadding I enjoy the ipod most the time as most my riding is long hauls in the sand

Sledding - my goggle fan! <3 gah thats a wicked little thing

just a few things that havent been mentioned lol

My list is pretty similar to most....avy gear, and all those necessities, I keep a whistle on my shoulder strap as well that's easy to access with my helmet on, mini led flashlight, 2 way radio. Extra everything: goggles, gloves, mitts, toque, long underwear, balaclava for the ride out...soooo nice to put on a warm & dry one for the trail out. I have a small addiction to lip gloss and chapstick so I carry both...you never know when there might be a 'helmet off' photo opp so gloss is a must have! LOL I also keep a spare camera battery on my person, either in my sports bra or the pocket on my warm layer..batteries die fast in the cold so keeping a spare nice and warm is insurance that my cameras will always be ready to go. Sunglasses for lunchtime, smokey cooking stick...the ones from Canadian tire that telescope out and have the little turning thing on them. My Sledshed Thing cooker is by far the best accessory I could have ever put on my sled!! I don't have enough hair to be concerned about it getting in my mouth and I can't make use of hair ties so I always look like a wild woman when the helmet comes off...toque in the pocket is a must!! OH...and I don't pack toilet paper cuz my nick name is 'the camel'...I don't pee! Zero coordination + pee fright = peeing is not an option! HA!
