I love hot yoga, just hate the attitude a lot of "yogi's" have. Great work out, unbelievably hard. I think kick boxing's actually easier! Although yesterday I had my butt kicked, even bled! Feeling it today.

I call BS on that! Cures aches and pains?!?!?! You must be doing a different kind of yoga than i see pictures of. If i tried half that crap i wouldnt have to worry about the riding season cause id be laid up in the hospital!!!

Sent while not working too hard

You would be surprised...I don't do hot yoga because it's painful. I won't say that it cures all aches and pains for good, but I know a lot of people, especially some with back injuries, arthritis, etc that say hot yoga does wonders for them. For me, I suffer from occasional lower back pain and ankle pain.. when I'm doin yoga atleast a few times a month, I have zero issue's as far as joint/muscle pain other than slight stiff and soreness a day or two after if I did an intense class and haven't gone for a while lol.

For me, its the only thing that I actually ENJOY doing that helps keeps me in shape both physically and mentally, and I get much better and quicker results than that of running on a treadmill or lifting weights or doing numerous workouts 3 + days a week when I have zero ambition to do it. Everyone is different of course, but I don't personally know a single person that has gotten into hot yoga and hasn't thoroughly enjoyed it.. I'm sure there are some out there though.

Again, its not just on the outside... yoga helps the inside too.. it stimulates digestion to help metabolism, it helps detox blood, organs, etc and it really helps with fatigue, etc.

I'm not a huge fan of a lot of them myself, but I go there for myself only and not to associate with others. I guess some may stereotype me as one of those treehugging granola-eating hippies but truth is i'm not even a fraction of what those people are like.. I do agree with alot of their beliefs and values but as far as praciticing it not even close.. lol. Yes I do believe in eating and praciticing clean, natural ways of living but in this day in age its far too difficult for the average joe to live that way.. I do the best I can anyway. Yoga is one of those 'natural' remedies that has been around for thousands of years.. pumping iron in a gym hasn't and there's a reason why professional weight trainers have signifcantly shorter lifespans then the average person that does regular physical activity.

Yes it is extremely hard, I've been practicing Moksha now for about 4 years and I still haven't mastered it all ..but I know it sure does make me feel great and I do love the results when I am practicing regularily. I love the challenge though, and just like anything else.. hard work and dedication pays off. Unfortunately I have a hard time going in the summer when its already scorching hot outside so I usually participate in yoga in Fall to spring, then I jog in the warmer months. I do have a home gym set up in my basement too that I use occasionally, eliptical, treadmil, weights, yoga ball, P90X, etc that I especially use when its too miserable and cold out to even bother driving to yoga classes, or when its rainy and crappy outside in the summer LOL.

Kickboxing is definitely something I'd love to try sometime! Its on the bucket-list for sure. :)

30day shred is from biggest loser trainer Jillian Micheals. I bought mine at an HMV but even walmart or stores of the like should carry it.

I wish I had done photos now sledmama! Next time haha I really want to be fit for sled season & our costa rica trip so i need to stay motivated and on the ball. Went to the gym the other night and was just totally lost in what i should do, it felt like it'd been forever since id been there. but the changeup is always welcome. Either way i have 6 weeks to our trip and about 3-5 for sledding, i better get moving!

I'd for sure try kick boxing, or Muay Thai. I like Muay Thai because it's based on respect and tradition. Something that isn't found in many sports anymore. I wouldn't mind training to fight once, might be an interesting experience. I asked some of the girls that do it what the hardest thing is, and they said learning to get hit and NOT react. But rather to think calmly and plan your next move.

I love the traditions behind a lot of the yoga. I enjoy the Balinese culture, was there for a month and they are really into it. I just haven't found a gym or place that I'd like to go regularly. Plus its pretty expensive, at least in Calgary. Hopefully I can find somewhere one day, cause it sure kicks my butt and I like that.

Wow you ladies are intense! But definitely motivating to get my butt moving. Might have to try this 30day shred. With two little kids and living 20 min out of town with no babysitter, going to the gym isn't a great option. So something at home would be the best. Thanks ladies!

the in-home workout possibilities are taking off! You can do it! :D

I really enjoyed 30 day shred. But you can get yoga & pilates which are also good. I aim for what requires the least equipment, so 30day shred all i needed were a set of handweights & a matt. yoga and pilates all u usually need is a matt. There are now tons of fitness workouts out there, insanity requires no equip, p90x requires some stuff. It depends what you want to invest into it but a set of hand weights, matt, even stretch bands wont put you in the hole. Happy Fitness hunting!

Awesome! Ya last year I had started doing a quick burn cardio with hand weights and walking/running after getting my new sled and finding out I couldn't even start my sled by myself.
Complete embarrassment!!! I found the cardio really helped my overall balance and flexibility once of course I finally got the sled started :)
But I am so gonna try the 30-day shred too! Need to use more weights to find those missing muscles!!!

Haha!! Don't hate me too much... Turns out snorkeling should have been part of my pre-season fitness training: it rained sideways pretty much ALL day. Approximately 60kms if pure swimming!! Good day for breaking in belts and new machines and hooking up with our sledding buddies. It wasn't epic, but it was a day we will never forget, and isn't that what it is all about :)

Could have done without the rain, hey SledMamma, but still a good ride! But...like the ol' saying goes, even a bad day sledding is still a good day. Was awesome to see if I actually could even ride after my accident in May! Turns out that my knee is holding up well, to trail riding anyway! Must be that last month of kickboxing.....can't wait to tackle some deep POW soon and hit it up with my sledding buds again! :)
