Stereotype statements that make you want to Poke someone in the head with a chopstick

OK....


Being a woman rider we can be minding our own business, trying to ride to our best ability, yet certain stereotypes seem to follow....

Here's the woman rider stereo types that make me want to blow....



First of all... My statement.... I would like a 162" track instead of a 153".....

The Stereotype: A 153" is more than enough for you....Meanwhile all the men are chattin about increasing their track length and no one bats an eye..... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

They have NOOOOO idea the terrain I ride in, or the type of rider I am... their statement is purely based on the fact that I am a Woman.....


Stereotype 2:
I ride an M8....... When a Man says... an M6 is more than enough sled for a woman... an M8 is a man's sled......

I actually tackled a guy into a snowbank a few weeks ago... he was new to our group.. he made a crack trying to get my goat. He said I should ride a 250 bravo.... I turned around got him in a headlock and pushed him down into the snowbank and punched him repeatedly in the stomach... Probably not a great first impression.. .but I think I got my point across. :p:d

That's awesome!! lol....I definitely know what you mean. But I have to say, that the stereotypes are changing now that more and more women are getting into the sport. There are alot of kick azz women riders out there now!!

Back in the early 90's it was hell riding with the guys. I got razzed every time I went out, and I basically held my own in the mountains on my paddled up 580, and the guys HATED it!! There was very few women riders then....

Where we ride there is not so many women riders, and the guys we ride with are really respectful so haven't run into that too much. It's usually the new guys that hook up with us that can be azzhats, but once they see I can handle my sled like one of the guys they usually pipe down!! :d:d:d

You might want to wear a cup as well... ;)

I think we all hear this crap from some men... Thank goodness there are more supportive men out there then these jerks!

Some things I have had random guys say to me on the hill:
-There is a woman coming with us? Shouldn't she be at home in the kitchen?
-How do you like riding on the back of your husbands sled?

And the best was when I walked into an Arctic Cat dealership and said I was there to buy the newest M1000, ready to drop cash... the salesman tried to talk me out of it!!!! Apparently the M8 is a 'ladies sled' and I shouldn't be riding the 1000 :rolleyes: Too bad he lost that sale!!

My daughter would be proud of y'all, as she's a bettie in training;)......... I'm proud of her, and she can throw the 800 summit around quite nicely, and with more experience, she'll be good on it!!! She could throw my old '98 600 mountain max around no problem, but unfortunately her work is gettin' in the way, and she hasn't had much luck lining up our riding calender dates.........

I really enjoyed meeting your daughter at the Edmonton Sled show. She is such a beautiful girl, inside and out. :)

I will teach her my special sledding headlock punch to the gut move...
