Has anyone heard any rumors around the next Gen Rino? Rino's seem to be the only electronics device that doesn't change every 3-4 days... Which isn't necessarily a bad thing I guess. I have lost my 650, which is a great device, and am back to using my original 130. I had read, however I can't find the article now, that this might be the year Garmin brings out the next gen Rino. Before I shell out $4-500 for another 650 I thought I would check what everyone else has heard.

Haven't seen anything but I would expect they have something updated coming out as they were blowing out the 650's for $349 after Christmas.

It is ridiculous though, when the 530HCX started to become discontinued they were selling for $159 in the States, people are getting over $250 US used for them on ebay.

I wonder if Garmin will try and go the smart phone route with a GPS and Peer tracking app for your phone that works off GPS on a monthly subscription.

Would love to see this happen. Holding out on getting an inreach for this year for this reason.

i think they still sell the 120 it was sort of the bench mark for them, i would have thought that they would keep the 650 and get rid of the 120 it uses a serial cable, to sync way out dated

The only two current Rino's are the 650/655 and 610. I think The 610 is being phased out as many places only carry new "refurb" units of the 610.

Touch screen is likely here to stay and likely cheaper to manufacture than push button and joystick operation with less failure. The screen size on the 650 is decent although a larger screen would make it a better GPS. I also have a Dakota and its screen is comparable but the unit is very compact. I have added cases to my Rinos and it makes them quite bulky. I searched for quite awhile before buying my 650's to see if there were hints of an updated version coming out and there was nothing. When I read a lot of the GPS forums it seemed there was not a lot of interest in peer tracking. This baffles me but maybe the market just isn't there for Garmin to continue the product line.
