I picked up a set of Motorolas for free from Airmiles. Seem to be really good. They're about $130 to buy in a store, are bright yellow, waterproof and have all of the same channels and are compatible with the Garmin Rhinos. They have an internal battery that lasts all day, and have a lot of good features. I use them for camping, hunting, sledding, and other things.

I wanted something waterproof. My last few sets have died early so I'm hoping this is the answer.

we have a set of Cobra's that we bought in 2009 when we used to travel with 2 vehicles in the summer, they aren't holding battery life like they used to. Then we bought a 3 pack of Unidens from Costco, and they are the most annoying 2-way radio I've ever used, just static after someone finishes a communication for a long time. Needless to say those don't get used much. I think I want to get some of these Motorola Ones probably before quad season really gets going.

I bought mine at Canadian Tire.
$130. Seemed steep but if they last it's worth it.

That way if they weren't paying attention at the safety meeting at least you can find them later.

We lost a guy this year, he didn't have a radio and WhaLaaa he's gone.
Took us a couple of hours to reconnect.
He now owns a radio...lol

Here's what a bunch of us around here are using now. Has the benefits of more output power, and dual band so we can use the GMRS frequencies while riding, and the Forest Service road frequencies while driving to the trailhead. So far they're standing up really well, and they're dirt cheap.

I got a couple similar to moyie's, they are dual band puxing PX888K radios, so far they seem to work good. I also have FRS/GMRS rinos, sony FRS, and a couple uniden FRS. the dual band puxing has a lot better range than all of those.
