not the best radios for calling kms on logging roads, but better than nothing and far cheaper than buying a hard mount unit.

4 watts output power compared to I believe 1 watt max for regular GMRS???? Not "technically" legal, but I don't care.

Not as good as a regular truck radio for sure, but we've been getting up to 8km's on them on mountain roads.

we use the snowmobile kit from ruggedradios.com , they work amazing, never getting the radio out of your pocket or wondering if the other guy has stopped to listen for you.

u looking for portable VHF or those GRMS that you can buy every ware? I just purchased a standard Horizon VHF. thing has great battery like. goes 48 hours+ on a charge
