I had a 2 watt model and spent hours searching the web to find a way to change the transmit power. I've never found a solution.

me neither, was told you may need a usa ip address to download the usa update, which i'm thinking would get you the upgrade to 5 watts. but i have no idea.

I'll have to try that. I used to have a US proxy server set up to access US netflix. I sold the 2 watt version to a friend so it would be nice to upgrade still.

Anyone else have trouble with the built in mic on the Garmin Rinos? I have a 530 5W US version and I'm on my second one and the mic has crapped out on both of them. Sent the first one in, under warranty and they replaced the whole thing. The replacement has done the same thing again.

i did also, out of warranty, micro switch is pooched, i just got a push to talk lapel mic, works way better than the mic in the radio. put radio in pocket, run mic on coat collar, then you can hear someone calling, etc. haven't tried a throat mic.

works really good with the mic, and the mic is not that expensive either.
