problems with a garmin 60

I have an odd problem with my gps. It tracks ok for the most part except when you try to track back parts of my route are missing. Sometimes it tells me that I have gone from the trail to home and back again in the same route, you should see my speed on that part of the leg. Anyone else have something like this happen??
