I had to replace my flip out touch screen stereo the other day for a double din pioneer touch screen. Old stereo finally packed it in. Now on certain channels on my icom 5023 im getting static and its stopping the scan mode and resting on those channels. With no power to the stereo it does not do this and if i touch the screen it will briefly stop and alow the icom to resume scan. Its not on any specific freq range some channels are in the 154 range and some in the 160 range..

Any suggestions? Never had the issue with the old cheap touch screen.

Check with a good radio shop. I'm sure they can add suppressors but there are a few different methods. Sometimes a capacitor makes a difference I am told but have never pursued it. Might be worth posting question on a ham radio web site as well.

Ya I've got it up on radioreference. They have given a few ideas to try. With one being grounding the new radio chassis on a short lead to vehicle chassis

ya turned it up a bit with no luck. Don't want to crank it up as that will start effecting other channels.

One of the suggestions given to me is putting a toroids on the power cables to both units. Will give it a shot when i get a few min and order some

our one grain truck had the same situation with the 2way radio in it, with a pioneer head unit installed. I tried a few different things, grounding, and in-line noise reducers, but never really solved it. Finally the deck died, put in a clarion, no issues at all now.

Had a issue with rr13, apparently some brands of GPS mimic a very similar frequency causing the sender transmission to be blocked and oncoming traffic couldn't hear. Never happened to me personally as I have never had to use rr13 but have heard about it a couple times.

rr13 was discontinued in BC due to the interference. Primarily with Kenworth nav systems from what I understand

Interesting.. wonder if other channels are effected. Have had people telling me lately that truckers were not calling out on posted Chan. But possibly be a interference issue

Figured out the issue.. Stupid me had mounted the antenna to close to my car radio antenna.. Moved it to the opposite side of the truck and its clear and static free also found a spot where the hood had rubbed through the cable to the ground on the antenna..

On a side note i was going to put a relay in the power lead so the radio would turn on with the ignition. It was recommenced to get a add a fuse and tap the fuse box in a location that has a 20amp fuse or bigger. How are you guys doing it iv seen a few professional installs done this was instead of strait to batt
