In defence of azzhole truck drivers everywhere I've seen four wheelers blocking the left lane way more often then trucks.
Your right, I was speaking in general terms.... If I were driving truck I would understand my trucks capabilities and pass other trucks when practical and considerate....Not when my passing another truck would create a backlog of slow traffic. I run the QE2 2 to RD & Calgary 2 or 3 times a week and my #1 piss off is 2 semi's side by side same speed backing up the left lane.

This is my take on it.

Everyone should have to drive or ride in a big truck at least a few times in their life to realize what goes on ! People pass and then cut you off. It comes down to that not very many people give a chit anymore about other people but them selves

Just before I got home a hour ago I was on a gravel road , saw a car coming at me so I slow down and move over a bit , buddy coming at me doesn't move over a foot. Making me drive on the edge while he takes up the middle of the snow covered gravel road. So let's just say he might have a few cracks in his windshield after he passed me That pisses me off ,, lack of respect nowadays

Don't know if this makes everybody happy or not...I have drivin rigs before. But with my new job of 30+years I took one out big time....with a locomotive. I laid on the horn and he bailed out, thankfully. Rig destroyed. Locomitive impact at 42 mph and bent a hand rail and a ditch light. I thought I killed him, scarry thought. I told him ""you make be big on the highway but not the railway, I won"

have some patience. you'll get where you're going eventually without endangering your life of the lives of others. it's really not that difficult to understand

so why is the one semi passing the other, maybe lack of patience ?

how can you say that? many different trucks are hauling a lot of different loads, different configurations, different weights, different horsepower. they certainly can pass each other on a slight grade tho it might take a little longer than if you were doing it in a 4 wheeler. it may be the only place that's safe for a truck to pass another, especially those that are governed to 90 km/hr and the passer is governed at 100 km/hr. as far as I know, there aren't any different rules for trucks passing slower vehicles.
Maybe not rules, maybe just demonstrate some consideration, you're the one who is gonna slow down to 80 on hills and mess up the passing lanes.

why would they be passing another truck? are you guys serious with the dumb statements today? if a guy pulling 40 wheels and grossing a hundred tons is doing 90 km/hr, and an empty freight van can do the speed limit, he shouldn't pass because it might slow a four wheeler down? despite what you think, no truck should have to wait behind a slower moving vehicle, truck or otherwise, because it inconveniences "you".

you or any other 4 wheeler doesn't hold any more importance on the road than anyone else unless they have red or blue flashy lights. again, the "messing up the passing lanes" is your opinion, because it holds you up, and in your mind, whatever you are doing must be waaaay more important than anything else going on, eh?

me me me....fawk everyone else

You think if a hiway truck or passenger vehicle for that matter is traveling at 110km on a road with a posted speed of 100km there is a need to pass them? All I'm saying is you might get there 5 min sooner or you might not get there at all, and yes I've spent lots if hours driving truck and still do weekly. I cant speak for all drivers but i do not ride bumpers when following in tractor unit. Some definitley do. Im just saying a little patience goes a long way on a road such as this.

in no way did i say I passed anyone, the truck driver was on our tail, we were doing 110, and yes patience does go a long way.

881 looks to be 10 ft wide at best! followed a guy out today, he was all over the road past centerline and close to ditch side. looked like there wasn't lots of room, and on the way back to town a tanker was at least 2 ft in our lane, but got back to were he belonged.

I have seen this on other highways as well, just more noticeable on 881. narrow road, people in a hurry, exceeding speed limits 40-50 km over, drugs, alcohol, tired, bad weather, all leading to unnecessary deaths.

general public are not usually pro drivers, class 1 is supposed to be a professional driver, maybe i am missing something?

keys are stuck, ever since an upgrade.

anyway. there are some real good drivers out there, that like what they do, and want to go home to there loved ones. just seems 881 has attracted the worst of the worst. it hasn't been all bad, just the bad outnumber the good.

Look at the bright side, with the downturn in the economy the traffic situation should correct itself in time.

hopefully, I'm thinking most of the situation is due to width of road on hwy to hell 881. no time to finish texting, daydreaming or cook the books , look up and do wheel corrections. lol.

and the majority of truckers, use the radio channels, will pull over or tell a guy to wait at a certain pullout, I have the utmost respect for these guys, I have drivin large trucks on these side trails. takes some driving skill. yes I even owned one.
i have no idea why truck divers take offence to comments of the driving habits of those on hwy 881, maybe a trip up that road would change there minds. driving bobble here or there is a slight driving error but observing 9 out of ten trucks driving this road convinces me otherwise.
lane width is definitely a problem.

I believe your comment most clearly identifies the attitude that creates the majority if the problem on this road and a lot of others. Me me me, I think pretty much your entire statement could be turned around and applied the opposite way also.
Consideration goes both ways.

Why is there a need to get by, if they are doing 120?

Heavy trucks are no worse then all these people who pull trailers with there ****ing minivan, or even half ton for that matter.

An easy fix would be 2 lanes, both directions. 3 would be best. BUt due to the ****ing enviromental bull**** and of course the cost it will never happen.
if they can hold 120 no issues, like I said before i am in no hurry to get to work and i get paid hrly to drive so I'm not passing.

But when they are chugging along at 80 at the top of the hill, light vehicles want to get by. When there is a place to pass the truck is up to 120.

So there i am caught between an 80km/hr semi and a jacked up crew cab riding my bumper.... even better when the truck behind has hid lights.....

Drive the speed limit?? Maybe they should govern passenger vehicles to 110, with not nearly enough horsepower to get there.

Take your own advice, and ride a bike

Exactly. They are doing 80 through a corner and then 60 up a hill and then next straight stretch they are doing a 120 as I try to pass them. All I want to do is set my cruise at 110 and forget it but I get stuck behind some azzhole that fluctuates between 60 and 120 so he can sleep longer at the next truck stop.

Honestly, I'm not smart mouthing. Trying to explain it in terms that would help you better understand.

You obviously do not understand why a trucks go slower up hill then down, so i said ride a bike. Your pedal bike will go slower up a hill then it will going down. You have to shift gears to enable forward momentum, but in doing so you slow down because most people don't have enough horsepower to maintain the speed.
The guys driving trucks want to get where they are going just like you. The difference is gravity has a much greater effect on them, both going up AND down hills.

Everyone understands why a truck cant maintain speed, the trouble is why do you need to do a buck forty to pass someone who was just doing 60
