Hello gents,
Thanks for yoru time. If I bumpinto you Id buy you beer or wings for helping me out.

Is this the best thread area for questions on the Radium, Invermere area?
My friends and I are heading to radium for 5 days for new years after christmas.
Im pulling our sled trailor, I have 3 quick questoins.

Were looking for 2x sledding spots;

1. Intermidiate Advanced -I hear Forest Creek is good sled skiing areas? Is this true? What do you suggest?
( can I get to stagging area with trailor access.)

2. begginer intermidiate "with the wives." - I was told head to panorama toby creek adventures ,and head up the trail adjacent up to a cabin and mine?
( is the road to panaroma trailor freindly? )

The rode up to forester is sketchy as its not maintained very well or at all. Make sure you have chains with you. Depends on the weather a lot to

Forester Creek is far from an advanced riding area. Tree riding is on flat meadows mainly. It is a highmark style riding location with very high elevations. So ensure clutching is adjusted

if you stage at dogleg lake the road is maintained. They are logging in the area so it will actual be plowed and sanded from radium but always a good idea to have chains.

You can park in the front Toby creek adventures p-lot to ride paradise, just pay your trail fees.

Very good skiing at both locations, behind Dave White cabin is touring only, no sleds access. All other zones are good to go, the glacier is closed until Feb 15.

Elevations in Forster is on average 7500', glacier and thunderwater lakes can get to 9000'

not sure but they are logging everywhere. more logging trucks running around than I've ever seen.

Keep in mind that you CANNOT ride on the glaciers in the area unless specifically open. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGN.

Lots of peeps just blindly follow tracks, know where you are and where you are going before riding, as you could very well be out of bounds just by following tracks. As mentioned, sledding is not permitted up to the Dave White hut. There are no fuel cans allowed past the bridge (gas drop). If you pack fuel to this point, hide them well as they have been known to go missing.

After the meadows at Forester, there is a big climb up to Thunderwater Lake, usually its a great spot for beginners to find out how well their sled will roll back down the hill without them on it.... LOL

The terrain to the left heads up to the glacier, this area is closed until Feb 15, even if there are tracks heading up there its still closed.......

While some of the terrain is great for skiing or beginner/intermediates, there are still significant risks in this area and there are "advanced rider only" areas, depending on snowpack and experience level, and other riders in the area. One skier died in this direct area last year.

Please remember to keep the cabins clean and please pay trail fees, and above all else, have fun!

That first hill after the lumber mill, I've done the white knuckled slide back down a few times there... with studded winter tires on... seen a few guys get into trouble on that slope with the turn at the bottom.
There's another way to access forester, via Invermere and the West Side road... long detour but better than a wreck on that hill.

Watch out for 20-35 year old locals who like to steal from you and break into your ****. They think they own the place but don't realize there is only a couple of them doing it and a 100s of us going there year to year. Times almost up hodlums! your ass is mine and you better be scared! they don't call it imbredmere for no reason. get a life

wow kinda harsh, calling us locals inbred........ weak dude. i'm going to asssume you had an issue when you were here. Unfortunate but it happens, why crap on the entire town when its as you say a couple punks doing the damage.

nobody gets anything stolen in calgary right..... or golden..... or revy...... fact of life, if you have something nice someone else will want it.

No offence to you Pano-Dude- obviously directed at the ones that do this. Hear it happens more often then one would want to believe and yes it has happened to me to twice in the last 5 years at Forester. Both times there was only 2 groups in the area. My group and some unfriendly locals we briefly talked to. Both times we sledded out to find that the other group parked beside us and stole anything they could get. Knew it was them as there were no other tire tracks or sled tracks in fresh snow....

unfortunately both times we were there first and out last. fresh snow-one set of vehicle tracks then sled tracks to and from the vehicle. no other tracks....

thanks for that, thievery pisses me off too. not sure what the solution is, maybe a motion camera set up in the truck? need to stay within the law, if a person goes out and beats down a punk then they are lowering themselves to the same level.

any info/description on the sleds they were riding? did they say they were locals?

yes they said they were locals. one fringed immediatly when we said we were from Cgy. You most likely know them. ones got the full douche bag sled wrap on a ski doo with all the sponsers on it that hes not sponsored by even though he would like to think he is...

i know a couple sleds like that, not in my group. one of them is owned by an electrician who works in ft mac.
probably more i'm sure that i don't know of, i tend to ride/ski in places not so public.

will definitely give the local wrapped sleds a second look now, just like to know who's got sticky fingers.
