Looking to come to Golden in July for a 3 generation family vacation. Any recommendations from locals or those in the know would be a big help.

- best golfing in the area? Value wise
- can I ATV into Quartz or Gorman? Is there much for quadding trails into the alpine? Best places to ride for big country/best sights?
- any local culture (food, local attractions) that we may want to go to. Ages 9 through 65 will be represented

any help is appreciated. Have been in the winter many times but never in the summer. July 14-18.

Kicking Horse Mountain resort. You have got to take the gondola to the top. Views from up there in the summer are fantastic.

golfing, go hit up the local course. It is quite nice and reasonable to play at.

There are no alpine trails around golden, and to my knowledge in the area summer motorized vehicles are not allowed above a certain altitude I thought unless there is a roadway constructed. Mount 7 is pretty easy going with a great view at the top.

Matt, I've done the below and would recommend them all.

- x2 on the burger at the Eagles Eye restaurant above the ski hill. But its spendy $$$$
- Whitetooth brewery is AWESOME.
- the via ferrata there is super fun
- if you have kayaks / canoes then kinbasket boat launch (1st right after weigh scales west of town). Ive seen folks with ATV's and bikes here as well. If I'm not mistaken your not allowed in the alpine but you will need to confirm that.
- the less moble folks can take the ski hill gondola to hang out with Boo.
- day trip to hot springs in Radium
- as others mentioned drive your truck up Gorman, then hike in from the parking lot with the small bridge near the top.
- Northern lights wolf centre. You can do a photo walk, west of town.
- White water rafting.

Check out GORMA on facebook, I know there are trails from the Gorman parking lot.

Try this place. Campers Haven RV and Tent Park in Donald, just past the scales on the north side of the highway and east side of the river.
They have cabins there for rent, a small motel plus the campground. When we stayed, we took the boats up to Kimbasket and launched then drove them back towards golden on the river and tied them up just a short walk from the campground. Used to have river boat tours there some years ago.
The owner had informed us that a fair bit of people bring their offroad jeeps and atvs and stay, or go further up the road and camp and ride.
This was a few years ago. I would call and double check. I believe the same turn off to go to chatters creek.

In them hills.
Since BP's has closed we found this place just up the road as a pit stop before the big climb up rogers.

Food is unreal and a really good selection of beers.

Will definitely stop again.

Just wanted to let riders know my boy and a couple friends stayed at Days Inn in Golden all three came back with a ton of bed bug bites. They called and told the hotel they said no one else that had stayed in that room complained. Finally got the manager on the phone said they were going to refund the room so hopefully they do. Not trashing the place i understand the bugs travel in luggage and clothing being a hotel people come from all over. Just hope they deal with the problem. Wanted to let fellow riders know incase they have stayed so you dont contaminate your gear and home we washed everything so hopefully got the buggers.

It been a common place thing for years there

And I see his post and about 3 others in the last few weeks with bug bites from there too

It's not the place it used to be when it was the golden rim

Ya the old owners supported the snowmobile club treated sledders great. Always stayed there when it was the Rim. You could park your unit after a day of riding hit the hot tub wonder down to the Canyons Edge for a feast and a few pints and not have to worry about driving anywhere.
That burger could feed a small family! Had lots of good times there.
