Our group is heading to Chatter a week from now.

Anyone know how the road conditions are looking this year?

Watch out for dips after km20. There's a bad mud hole at 69. One guy got a flat tire on his truck and trailer going through it. A bit worried about getting out on Saturday with rain coming tomorrow.

Road is fine-go slow between 18-30Km marks due to Water dips...69 has a hole stay on left when going in. Few guys chose right and all needed towing....

Road changes daily...next week will be fun. Lots of snow to melt on sides of road....

Snow is deep up high!

Hole at 69 has been filled. Other than the dips from 18-30 that are marked by 5 gallon pails sprayed orange and the last 2 km to the Chatter parking lot the road was pretty good. The time to go is morning when everything is froze up so you can go slow through the ruts. Take a radio on the Lodge guest turnaround. Met probably 15 rigs on the way out and a couple close calls on corners because they didn’t have radios I guess.

Sounds like Chatter has upped their prices significantly for next year. Was told $975 for 3 nights next year.

I think people should be ready for big sticker shocks for many things next year, hotels, fuel, food, parts. Chatter has to bring in all their stuff by chopper or road. When I left Golden yesterday it was $2.25 / L for regular and nothing moves in our country without a truck or a train to get it Golden and from there its gotta go 70 kms north. Friggin' butter is up to $6/lb and that is something that doesn't seem to have a sudden and mysterious "Supply Shortage". By the time it gets to the chalet its probably a $13 stick of butter! :p

Road is plowed all the way to their upper parking lot at 72. Went in yesterday and had to break some trail in the meadows behind the lodge. Not much for CAT trails that direction yet. I haven’t been anywhere else in Golden this year, but I might bet that was the best snow in the area right now. . Wish I had a cpl more guys to help and we would have had a hell of a day having fun.

It’s the sledders turn at the Lodge. Keep those updates coming. Heading in next Wednesday with a group.
