Headed out there with the kids tonight to ride tomorrow. The sled Golden website said they are grooming Quartz so should be a smooth ride up. As for new snow hasn’t been much. Think it’s going to be rode off pretty good. We just want to get a ride in. I got a new motor I want to put some miles on. Supposed to be sunny so should be pretty.

Safe to say...Quartz is pounded after this weekend
Anyone brave enough to go to Chatter or hope?
just wanting some input from anyone that went to silent pass
this past weekend...
did they finally plow the road from km21 to the staging area at km45?
or is the road rough as crap from km21.

we are getting a reload this week

with Chatter Creek reporting only 125cm @ 6500ft as of this morning(dec 11 report posted)
Long drive into Hope with avy issues between km45 to km55(see pic below)
skinny conditions in an area that needs lots of snow(landmines)
the earliest I've been into Hope is over the Christmas break

@JZ1 you are a brave person...and thanks for reporting that you went
some pics would be nice and probed depth of snowpack would be greatly appreciated

The road in was a slick with ice in a lot of spots but nothing that wouldn’t make me not do it again. Just need to pay attention and be smart and take it slow. We unloaded at the trailhead at marker 55.
There was 10 in our group and only a couple had ever been there before.
the trail ride was good for about half way, the other half was pretty whooped.
I didn’t find lack of snow being a issue.
It was my first time to Hope so I can’t say where abouts we rode but we all had a great time.
If someone were to post a map of the trail in I could probably say where we were.

so as for being brave, is it the road in that makes people think twice about going?

Would really like to get out for a ride this weekend but I see the Avy conditions are getting worse by the day with all the new snow. I’ve only been to Quartz once, does it have a lot of places that are a serious risk to sliding

Ya that hard pack underneath and heavy load is gonna be spicy up there.
Only been into hope a couple times in the spring and like the boss said there is some big slide chutes to cross going in there. My buddy has been in early season and was shocked how much rock and crap was just below the surface. They've had more snow further north then south so it might not have been bad this early this year. I'd still be a bit worried about it. Definitely not an area I'd wanna be in with the avy future and weather forecast we have this week. Next week would be pretty sweet riding tho with all this new snow.
When you guys unloaded at 55 how far back in did you go before you found the open stuff?

And yes quartz has some slide chutes crossing it on the way in. Your going across them pretty quick and it's mostly on the trail. Use your head and stay out of high probability stuff you should be ok. Forecast still clear for Saturday Sunday?

im not familiar with area so I can’t say how far back from 55 we were. I would say it was 1/2 hour ride in if that helps
For some reason I can not post pictures

Looking for a riding partner or group to tag along with on Saturday and Sunday. My usual crew is busy. I would like to go to silent pass and like to ride in the trees mostly. I'll be driving from Calgary. PM me if your interested.
