Rode Quartz this weekend both days. No surprise that it needs a lot more snow but not bad for Nov.
Was glad to get out and shake some rust off, had some fun. Trail was great.

Can drive to 46 parking lot, but suggest not much further than 30.

Waterfall is typical or go to trail to right of waterfall!!

looks pretty decent for November. How long is the trail into silent now?

see post #40

Silent Pass 24 nov 2018
Probed 4.5 feet just above the burn
Thought we would be staging at km21.
We unloaded at km35
Some people went all the way to km45.
Groomed from km45 to the bridge that is out.

add--> last i looked...nobody was going up the waterfall section.
Majority...if not all people were using the trail that is ...now...well defined
that runs parallel to the waterfall but located to the right of it.

trail length from km45(staging) to alpine (the lake) at silent pass is about 15km

There is plenty of snow to park at 27 to Silent. If you drive further you will soon start thinking you should have stopped. On the way out on Saturday l could see some people messing around on the waterfall. It probably wasn't wise.

Are they going to be grooming all the way to the 46 this year or no logging again?

Right now grooming is from 46. The GSC website says it will be from 21 this season. No logging that direction apparently.

Silent Pass. We were the only 2 sleds on the hill today. Road is plowed to km24, icy. There’s logging to km17 and 21. We parked at km24. Yesterday it looked like guys made it to km35. If you are pulling a trailer, don’t go past 24. Turnarounds are getting deep, icy underneath. Road/trail is great up until where the groomer stopped, the last 3km before the trail is Sh*t. Waterfall is opened up nice.
The sledding area itself has a ton of open water holes, and hazards. Needs 3-4’ more snow. Had a great day though.

I would suggest not riding golden right now... there is simple not enough snow currently despite what the websites say. Grooming has stopped at silent because of lack of snow. This should say enough. Gorman the lake is ‘barely’ frozen or snowed over. Up at chatter/hope there’s roughly 3ft snow, need another 1-2ft before thinking about it. There is no snow under 4000ft, so most of the roads are gravel still.

if you want to ride good snow head further west. If you want to help out local business ride golden.

Three of us were planning on heading to golden Boxing Day to ride for four days and we are big fans of Gorman and Silent but by the sounds of it maybe we should keep going into revy instead and save Golden for our February trip? Any honest opinions on conditions would be appreciated as we’re traveling 14 hrs to ride so don’t want to be disappointed

Cut and paste this question on the 22nd. It would have to be a pretty bad year for things not to shape up by then.
