can you convert 3/4 ton to dually

Would it be possible to convert a 3/4 ton duramax to a dually? Seeing as GM doesn't make a dually shortbox, I was thinking of putting some 1 ton springs and axle on my truck so it can handle the 5th wheel better. A new one's too expensive and mine isn't worth much on trade with 200k

It's possible I know on the older trucks the frame I think was narrower to allow for the duals.If you can measure the frame widths first.

It can be done, but remember that the load rating on your door is all the DOH guys will go by so if you are over weight "according to your door sticker" you will get a ticket.
A single wheel 1 ton axle would be a much easier swap. Plus way cheaper if you go with a ful float 14 bolt...about $200.00. If you want to track the same as your front wheels then get a 14 out of a 1 ton van they have the same width as the front, thats a old 4x4 bogger trick less dragging through the mud. I just sold my last van14 here 2 months ago.
