Thumbs down Anyone Happy with their Mirage/Image Sled trailer??

I have a 2008 Mirage Xtreme sport 26 foot with the High Mark package which gets you the vinyl floor, cabinets, LED lights inside and out, loading Lamps, Insulation, a furnace and a stereo. I really like all the features and how this trailer tows and works but I have had continuous grief and problems with this unit. on the way home from the factory one of the brakes fell apart because the backing plate was bolted on finger tight, locking my one rear tire up as I pulled in to get gas on my way home from the factory!!!! My fender on the passenger side is falling off because it was mounted incorrectly, my propane tank for my furnace fell off going down the yellowhead highway, scared me Sh#$less thought it was going to explode as I carefully undid the hose which was all that was holding it from going under the tires. I have a fancy fold down bench and work bench that after 3 uses I am angry to report are falling apart because they are made of the flimsiest material they could throw together using aluminum hinges and electrical conduit for supports for a chair?? Then as I was sending in the pictures to beg for some sort of support on my failed propane tank & mounts (one bolt at each end is apparently enough) I found I have a tire that is bald on the inside because the axle was manufactured incorrectly causing the spindle to be out of alignment I asked again to no avail mirage said its the axle maker's responsibility not theirs and the axle maker says that Mirage needs to approve them sending out an axle so there I sit no axle on a year old trailer, oh and while that was apart I found the brakes are all covered in grease from seals that pushed out, I was going to re-pack the bearings while the axle was off, and the bearings were not tensioned properly and even one of the dust caps were never put on from the factory. this unit comes with an on board fuel system that pumps so slowly you could go for lunch while your sled fills up and their response was that they make a better one now but in no way offerred to get me or give me access to the new version. I don't know if it is because I am Canadian or what but when ever there is an issue with this trailer they could absolutely care less about helping you or honouring any of their supposed warranty. The only thing they covered on my trailer so far was a new decals that were falling off on my way home from their facility in Nampa Idaho.

I still like my trailer I just wonder if anyone else has had this much grief with dealing with Mirage or if there was any way of convincing them to fix it as it is too far to go back to the plant!! I refuse to take this thing for the 1600 km or 1000 mile journey back for something that can be rectified here!!

So far they have promised but never delivered:

1. A new tire after the brakes fell apart. (Never Came)
2. A new propane tank for the furnace which is a major safety issue!!(Mirage told my dealer he had to order more product or they wouldn't give him my propane tank)
3. Any help at all on my axle which the rubber for the torsion part of the axle was mounted incorrectly causing me to wreck yet another tire.
4. A new fender so it can be mounted properly and doesn't hang off the trailer with a half inch gap
5. any sort of update on my fuel pump or I guess I have to roll the dice apparently and buy a new trailer because they updated the pump they say??
6. any sort of update on my benches because they have better ones again on the new ones but refuse to replace their shoddy s#!t in my trailer.

Just my experiences so far that I'd like to get resolved at some time!!

I also have one as well slightly smaller though (21ft) and i love it, no problems at all..aside from regular maintenence (greasing and such)the only other thing i did was spray undercoat on the frame to keep it from rusting.

Ha Ha funny you mention that when I had the problems with my axle I thought about seeing if SWS had the parts since they are a big distributor for Mirage trailers well after I got off the phone they gave me a fair bit of education!! Including they are ready to drop them as a trailer line because they have had alot of axle problems and mirage had authorized them to repair and so far hung them with over $40,000 in unpaid warranty claims alone!! I really hope that they get their act together that's alot of unhappy customers at 5 or 6 hundred per axle!!!

i looked at a used 2008 Mirage 6x12 cargo trailer and was not impressed (trailer was for wife who knows jack and she thought it looked cheap in quality) with the fit and finish and quality. the siding was like a trailer park tin shed,,,,,,,NOT GOOD, sorry to offend trailer park people

Re: Anyone Happy with their Mirage/Image Sled trailer??

I have the very same MIRAGE trailer with the same package as yours. I bought my trailer in December 2009. On April 13th 2009 this spring while traveling on the highway two returning from BC, a complete wheel and hub came off the trailer! Luckly the wheel went into the median between the two hiways and came to rest! The side of the trailer was damaged , the fender was damaged, the tire was cut and the spindle was damaged.
I got the trailer home and called the dealer where I bought it in BC. I was told that he would have the parts put on the bus and sent to me. I couple days later he called back and instructed me to take it to a dealer in Alberta because MIRAGE did not believe the wheel came off. I took the trailer into Airdrie and it was determined that no cutter key was installed in the castellated nut through the axle to secure the nut from backing off.
We were told by Curtis at MIRAGE they would replace the axle, tire, fender and repair the side of the trailer. Then the story changed! Mirage blamed the axle manufacture and the axle manufacture jerked the dealer around for months. In July the axle manufacture called me and said they did not believe that the cotter pin was missing from the factory. They instructed me that they would not be sending any parts or supporting any warranty! Calls to Curtis at MIRAGEwere answered and promises were made to look into it. MIRAGE never once called me back! Further discussion with my dealer in BC got them to re look at the trailer and consider warranty. The axle company was concerned about taking responsibility for the problem because in their mind the quality control at their factory is so high that this missing cotter key could not have been missed. They were insitant that someone had tampered with the axle.
I picked the trailer up TODAY a mire six and a half month later. The fender is still hanging loose, the tire was not replaced and the side is still damaged! To top this all off to get my trailer released from the Alberta Dealer I had to pay for the labour!
I also have the same fuel pump problems! MIRAGE has no warranty and they our rite lie to you if you can contact them! Curtis and Johnny I wish you and your companies good luck in your future sales.
Please contact me before you buy a MIRAGE

Re: Anyone Happy with their Mirage/Image Sled trailer??

I also have a Mirage snow sport extreme 28' I have only had one issue and that was after I picked it up one of the shelves fell off because they did not screw the shelf to the the studs in the wall, they missed with both screws, was an easy fix but a little frustrating at the same time, other than that it has been a great trailer, it pulls great and I have had no issues with the axles at all.
I had looked at a lot of trailers out there and I thought that this was one of the better built ones by far especially when you look at the cross members of the floor
So far it has been a great trailer

I always really liked the mirage trailers.... They have some unique designs, and they seemed quite functional. I hope you have better luck getting all the problems resolved.............

Re: Anyone Happy with their Mirage/Image Sled trailer??

pretty bad when the factory doesnt stand behind their product! they shouldnt pass the buck but just fix it to help the customer and deal with the axle company. after reading this I wouldnt buy this make of trailer. they wont be around in a year or so with this kinda service.
