I was sledding this past weekend and had the opportunity to ride with a great bunch of people. Snow conditions..........lack of. Anyways, end of the day back to the parking lot, typical, post trail pop at the parking lot, now on my way into town.

I have sledded here for 10 years and this is the first time that I have come accross a RCMP stop check.

Typical questions and answers all was fine and clear after subjecting myself to a road side breathalizer (note: they are looking/checking, behave). After complying with all of the officers requests I took the oportunity to ask him a few questions. Simply put I was one man in my pick up with two sleds on my deck, so of course the obvious question would be "would you like to see the registration?" reply "Nope, just looking for drinking and driving." "Do you not think it odd for me to have two sleds with all of the theft going on in town?" "Nope."

What can we do to have RCMP look after ALL of our best interest and not just what will make them points back at the precinct? Can they not do both expecially if it is right there in front of them?

The next evening was at the B.C. liquor store gathering fuel for the night noted this comment to the attendant who then advised that there is a brand new staff in town this year "play safe and use your brains......life is short".

Bottom line still no support for our equipment being stolen what are we to do?

I think you should contact our member "the Press" who is a reporter and has already done a story on the thefts.
