How to safely tow a vehicle

Thought some of you would get a kick out of this picture.
Just when you thought you had found a solid place to hook up your tow chains.safe towing.JPG

There has to be more to the picture than it looks...It would be very hard to tear the front axle off without dragging the whole truck.

Re: How to safely tow a vehicle

looks like there is an air line still connected from the tow vehicle, mebbe the air ran out and the brakes on the towed unit came on? still, pretty crazy result....have never seen such a thing in 20+ years in the patch. seen lots of bumpers pulled off tho...lol

Yup good ol Trican't guys, the guy actually rear ended another truck in the dust and kinked the frame behind the steer tires and before the motor mounts so when they tried to pull it off the road it snapped off on the kink

thanks for the iggy. I am often towed up crazy steep hills by D-8 cats getting in to some locations, and sometimes have to unload the cat or hoe I'm hauling and tow myself up...lol. they're pretty tough trucks

Looks like you "squared" up a deer or 2 by the looks of the bottom tube of the bumper

Re: How to safely tow a vehicle

once I hit the first one and saw how they just bounced off, yeah, I line them up and stand on the throttle. the fastest I've hit one is 120km/hr, all it did was make a shiny spot on the aluminum. saw him coming for the highway over a 1/4 mile away, timed it perfectly. we need to cull some of the deer in this province, before we have issues with deer ticks and Lyme disease like they have in some of the US states (not to mention the millions of dollars in insurance claims for animal strikes). just doing my part...lol.

the bottom bar that is bent is from pushing into dirt or snowbanks on a tight lease, and trying to use every inch of space available.
