Exclamation Doo-recall

For you Canadians that bought one in States, and have no warranty or coverage on recalls this is ouch. Looks like the french canadians got the consumer by the balls again.

On certain snowmobiles, the fuel tank may crack, allowing fuel and or fuel vapour to leak. A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealer will inspect and, if required, replace the fuel tank.

Other Vehicles Affected by this Recall:

Make: SKI-DOO
Model: SUMMIT EVEREST 154 800R
Affected Year(s): 2008
Units Affected: 609
TC Recall #: 2007329
Manufacturer:
Campaign Code:

Recall Details
On certain snowmobiles, if the throttle cable's adjustment is screwed completely down in the carburetor bracket, the end of the cable may eventually interfere with the carburetor lever mechanism. If this were to happen, the throttle cable's end could interfere with the throttle lever and, in some cases, prevent the throttle lever from returning freely to idle position. This could result in a loss of speed control causing a crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will adjust/bend the carburetor's lever mechanism to allow appropriate clearance

Re: Doo-recall

I could be wrong but my guess is that they will be legally bound to repair the machines since those are definitely major safety concerns, even if purchased south of the border. The problem comes in that the dealers up here will probably make you wait until january before they can get you in.

Yeah I'm with Steve I think they would have to fix it reguardless where you bought, It is a maufactures problem and that would come with liabilities I do not think they would want a lawsuit........now find a dealer to do it for you thats a different problem

Re: Doo-recall

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't need warranty for a recall. It's a manufacturers defect and they are bound by law to fix the problem. I just went through this with our SUV. It's 6 years old and have no warranty left, but ford sent me a recall letter and had to fix it with no CHARGE to us. My two cents...

Re: Doo-recall

I would hope BRP will be forced to do the recalls. But I agree that the sleds bought in the USA will be the last sleds they get to.
